C4S or Turbo (both 2010) HELP & Thoughts

Wanted to know some of your thoughts concerning the naturally aspirated sound of a 997S/4S vs the 2010 Turbo. Clearly the Turbo sound is more subdued. I have just ordered my C4S and have a few weeks to change my mind and was actually debating going with a 2010 Turbo CAB. Well in Canada here it would rack me up about 40K more than my C4S Cab which is quite loaded and would be around the 205K Canadian $ mark. From the few turbos that I have heard there doesn't seem to be much sound coming out of them and hence I have always leaned more towards NA engines anyway.

Money aside and considering the cop crazy province that I live in where any interesting speeds are not easily attainable and hence exploiting the Turbo (or even C4S) will be hard, do I really need the Turbo? Wont track anyway and feel the C4S CAB is plenty fast. X51 option on C4S cab is possible, but that is only 23 extra HP at $23,000 Canadian; doesn't make sense to me. HP Gain/Price seems poor.

Lets face it there is something in all of us that says "wow, I probably have one of the fastest cars out there with the Turbo". Machismo aside that really isn't the reason I decided to go the 911 way. An option would be the Turbo Coupe but I prefer Cabs. So without exhausting everyone out there, I would like some opinions: C4S CAB or Turbo CAB and general views. Its a lot of $$$ to dish out and would appreciate your comments/perspectives/regrets, Thankyou

I say keep the C4S. It's plenty fast for you where you live. The Turbo will be great but will the love be there after 5 years. Its hot today but the problem is chasing the speed. If you can afford it, get the Turbo and when you get tired of it, get the next turbo.

I still say the C4S is a better value for what you need.

Keep the C4S. You might consider adding the PSE (Porsche Sport Exhaust) option.

driven both a turbo and a C4S, and have a C4sin the garage. the C4S with PSE sounds significantly better than the turbo. the turbo's sound is subdued due to its turbo impellers.

both cars are fast. although IMO, the C4S with PSE sounds faster. save yourself the extra $40k.

I have a 2009 C4S 6-speed. I considered the turbo as well. With the C4S I am just into 3rd with the loud pedal down when getting on the interstate. OOOOPS - over 90 again - lift - shift to 6th. With the turbo, I figured it would happen a lot sooner, and possibly in 2nd???
Can't remotely approach the capabilities of the C4S without risking the wrath of the laser equipped public servants around here either.....
Save the $$$ and the big smile you will wear every time you drive the C4S might be just a little wider

Turbo is too fast, but not so involving as a C4S

C4S is plenty fast and easier to moderate

Actually, there are times when you can catch a Turbo on the twisties

C4S, no brainer

Add the Sport Exhaust and you will be one happy guy!

With your comments I think you've pretty much answered your own question. Keep the C4S.

Out of curiosity why did you decide to go C4S vs. 2S? I had a C4S thinking the AWD would be invaluable, and also for the rear width for aesthetics, and found myself wishing I had a RWD car as I never drove it in inclement weather anyway.

I drove both too... and ended up with the turbo. This car is not the primary and not even the secondary means of transportation, so I opted for a meaner one to never second guess again.

Exhaust is easy to fix with an aftermarket unit. Here is an example of the "fix": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5lCaQ4GKvE

Regardless, you will get an automotive icon that you can enjoy in any season.

I agree with the previous posts, go with the C4S. I have had all three versions of the C4S, 993, 996, & I just got my 2010 model. I believe Turbos are produced about 2 to 1 compared to the C4S, and I also believe they have significantly worse depreciation.

At the fear of starting an X51 value debate, I would tick the X51 option if it is now available for the C4S.2. You get the PSE, mean sounding intake and mechanical improvements. All of them are good so you can't go wrong.

I would look at it from other angle - if you ask such a question it means that deep inside you already decided you want this new turbo car.
Get best you can buy and enjoy it. If you can afford Turbo - get it. If cannot - C4S will be no less fun. I would not spend too much time over this dilemma.
If I would have enough doe set aside to shell out for new Turbo - I would be driving it right now.
I think new 2010 Turbo also exists in Cab form, doesn`t it?

Here's one opinion from someone who owned a 997.1 turbo and a 997.2 C2S. I'd like to review the "fun factor" - my turbo was fast and a very serious car, but fun? Not so much. It was heavy, there was turbo lag, the engine sounded like it really didn't want to rev, the car sounded more like a vacuum cleaner on steroids than a sports car. It was really more heavy GT (in all senses) and less tossable light sports car.

Nobody I know has driven the 2010 turbo, and it seems that it is much improved, but my 997.2 C2S is so much more fun than my turbo was, until I can drive a new turbo and feel/see the difference over the 997.1 turbo, my money is on the NA cars.
