Sometimes you just need a hammer...
...to gently persuade a bolt to come out.
I worked on my friend's car today and did her oil change on her 05 Carrera. She was amazed that I could get it done for about $65. The dealership charged her $200 the last time.
Unfortunately, the dealership neglected to tell her the last time the oil change was done, they stripped the aluminum Allen bolt. Nice...thanks for playing.
A little hammering, a bolt extractor, and voila...drinks were on her

Actually, I suspect a Torx bit probably caused the problem in the first place. The plug is meant for a hex bit, and a Torx only applies force on the corners.

That was my thought when I first saw the pics. Looks like a Torx indentation into the grooves.

Never occurred to me that I should have photographed the two of us at dinner...would have made for the perfect forum thread.
