You may be correct. But I think these discussions help maintain a little perspective, as well as prevent too much inbreeding.

Autoweek reports now 412hp and 390tq with peak hp coming in at 6500rpm. Full forged crank and pistons...I can't wait until the aftermarket gets ahold of this thing.

Mustangs are awesome. Wouldnt mind owning a shelby gt500 at all. Ofcourse, its a totally different animal when compared to the 911.

At least you bought some...I was so tempted but after the financial beatdown I received the last 2 years I was gun shy.

I'd much rather have these sorts of general discussions about various cars than see endless questions about what a fair price for a 997 is, or asking what color Porsche to buy for $100k. Many of us are interested in cars in general, and don't feel we have to continuously focus all of our attention on our beloved Porsches, no matter how much we like them. As I mentioned in earlier post, it helps to keep things in perspective. Without some perspective, we become fanatics.

drive one. i was surprised how it handled compared to what i'd expected as american muscle. actually, i dont even think it's under that category anymore.

I never had teenage crush on mustang, so, may be that is why I see nothing in this car. I am more miata/s2000 type of guy than mustang type. Would never crossed my mind to buy one.
not really sure what z06 has anything to do with this discussion. i believe they are in a different league as you can tell by their performance.

not that i am a fan of domestic cars but things have changed since they were known for straight lines.

Absolutely true, in my experience, until you hit bumps in the road.

The Mustang is (esp. now with this new motor) an amazing value. It's got great power, handles and brakes well, and an amazing price point... but it's still relatively crude and once you get it off the track and use it on real world roads the limitations of that live axle (even with the track pack) become much more pronounced.

I'm not a Mustang hater but I think a little perspective is in order.
