I actually thought the Launch Edition 997's (as I've heard it) were the 997.2's for 2009. All were C2S's.....dk green(forget the name off-hand), tan interior, pdk, vented seats....... pretty loaded up cars.

The Launch Edition are identical cars that PCNA had produced for the each dealer (one) and were used to introduce the new model. In 2005 it was Black 997C2S with PCCB's, Full leather, Nav, Bose, ***, SC, and a few other little options. In 2009 it was the PRG cars as described above.

Launch cars are cars with specific option packages that were sent to each dealership. I almost bought a 997.2 launch car. It actually made negotiations with different dealerships quite easy. It allowed me to compare apples to apples and the only differentiating factor was price.

there were launch cars with the 05 model (997.1) as well as the 09 model (997.2)

If you are asking only about the 05 --there was one specific car . It's an "s" - black/black/ ceramic brake /sport adaptive / nav/full leather / sport chrono car with MSRP of 99,300 .

It doesn't .. but back in 04 every dealership got one of those identical cars . It was supposed to be a demo showing all the cool features but demand for the car was so high that most sold the car . I bought mine only 3 days after the launch. Great car !!!!!

Sorry for the blur, but you can still make out the "Launch" code:
