Need Advice

Hi guys. Reading this site has been extremely helpful for a soon to be pcar owner. Am looking at a non CPO 2006 C2. It is pretty much the base model (has 19" rims and zenon lights but nothing else). Has 15k miles. Dealer wants 43k and says he could send it to auction for more. 2 questions:

1) What are your thoughts on purchasing such a lightly optioned car

2) Is that a fair price

Would appreciate any input

If that's the upper limit of your budget I'd wait until you can aford a little more for a cpo. Is this at a Porsche dealer? They should be able to add a cpo to it for about 3k.

This statement alone would be enough to sway me from the deal. He's not doing you a favor to sell you the car . You are keeping his business afloat by buying it.

Make it into CPO status and get it for $43K. Check cars.com to see the price level for similar cars. I wold not buy non-CPO car from dealer.

What about the int/ext color? Condition? Service/ownership history? # of owners? How did the dealer acquire the car?

That statement about the dealer being able to sell it more at auction is complete bullwinkle and completely illogical. That statement in and of itself would make me doubt anything else he may have to say-

I have very little options (heated seats, bose) in my 05 and purposely bought it that way. I don't miss them.

Its not a bad price. The price should be about 40K with no warranty or 42k with a warranty.

The low miles are a plus and depending on the car condition and PPI it might be one to buy.

What the dealer said about auctions is irrelavent IMO..one way or another. Don't let words get in the way of a possible good deal.

good luck

Sounds a lot like my car.
I've got lobster forks, sport chrono, xenons, not CPO.
I would have liked more options, but I really didn't need them.
It's my first 911, and I really wanted to get into a 997.
The kicker was that the car was in awesome shape, and there was only one owner who took great care of the car and gave me a fantastic deal (approx the same price as what you're looking).
You need a PPI, to check to see if the car was abused.
How many owners?
The overall condition is what really matters.
IMO, a fair price for a lightly optioned 2006 C2 (not CPO) would be somewhere in the low $40s.
I had watched the 997 market for about a year.
There are a lot of cars out there, good luck.
