PDK not engaging reverse?

PDK not engaging reverse?
I drove my C4S down the street (from cold) yesterday and realized I'd forgotten something. So I swung it around and had to reverse to clear the turn. I sat there for a few seconds with the engine revving and nothing happening in R gear. Shifted to D and the back to R and it worked. Has anyone else experienced this?

My new 997.2 Carrera was in the same situation at the smog test station, unable to engage the engine in reverse.
I hypothesize it was because of the stability control management thinking it was losing traction.
After we pushed the car out on the street and drove it around the block, the car went back to normal.
Why do I need a smog test for a new 997.2? Stupid California car registration rule. I bought my car in the state of Washington. Sigh...
