Nice sound during warm-up?

Not exactly sure what to search on, so posting the question.

The real nice "burbble"........as-I-call-it.....while the car is warming up, especially with the X-Pipe on. Two questions.

1) What is "activated" during that cycle time? (That great sound before the car quites down to normal idle)

2) Whatever "it" is, can it be defeated so-as to be in that mode at all times to enhance the overall exhaust note. (It exactly reminds me of my 996 w/PSE when I had it, and just a tad louder).

The car is in open loop and is running rich to warm the cats quickly, you could be hearing unburned fuel popping in the exhaust system.

the car at a cold start up sounds awesome....the cats are cold and once they heat up your idle will be at a lower rpm and not as loud
