Question about 997.2 headlights
I recently took my 09 997.2 for a service appt, and noticed there was another 2009 997.2 in the showroom. Something was different about it, but I couldnt figure it out. Then wham, it hit me. The freaking headlights are completely different! They look sooo much better on the showroom car than mine. It makes no sense, since both cars are 2009's. I even double checked like 5 times to make sure both were same year models. I know they make upgrades from year to year, but never have I seen a mid year upgrade like this....
Can anyone explain this? Is there anyway I can get them on my car?

They are both "bi-xenon" projectors. The one from the showroom is "active" as in it aims the light into the corner when you turn. (The top projector lens moves back and forth like an eyeball when you turn the steering wheel). It is an option on the 997.2 models.
Porsche calls the projectors "bi-xenon" because the xenon projector actually changes its masking when you put the high-beams on.

Those headlights you saw on the showroom car have the dynamic cornering lights. The headlights adjust automatically based upon speed and turning angle. It is a $690.00 option. When you build a 997.2 you can see it under options for the exterior. Mine has it and I just love both the looks and the way it functions in the night.

Yeah, when I bought my car, I bought it off the lot, so I didnt have a chance to spec the car out. If I had that opportunity, I would have gotten those headlights in a split second. They look so much better. I loathe any chrome on any part of my car.

I have the active "cornering" headlamps on my BMW.... no big deal. I wouldn't want them on a car I intended to keep. Some folks have problems where only one of them likes to move. My 2008 997S has the regular Xenons. These are also nice to have but not that important to me.
