Going to go to deposit tomorrow on new 2010 4S, how did I do?

I agree, funny Guards Red is not so much around on 4S. Local dealer is stopping the nego, I still have one more round with the out of town guy who has two in stock, local guy was playing service and relationships, but I told them I dont think I should have to pay more for that, and longer term I will be servicing the car with them and probably installing extra stuff. Local guy is smaller dealer, out of town (NJ) is larger car mill, so volume is key I think. We will see what tomorrow brings.
The key is that the sale has to be "today" (as others said too).
I do believe that if you wrote a check for 100K out the door with tax, tag, dealer fee and said take it or leave it-- one time offer --they woild have to be out of their mind to let you walk .
For the heck of it I called my local dealership . I am friends with so many there and did not discuss price at all but did ask if they had a Red C4S . they don't . They have a black one and a white one .
I have seen red C4S cars last year but much like the one you are looking at they were minimally equipped . I notice that the heavy optioned cars are usually in Gt silver ,Actic silver , or white with the C4S .
also keep in mind that with Pdk being a hot selling item many of the dealerships are more heavily balanced with PDK. Even though I have a PDK car I still believe that ones first Porsche ought to be a manual but that's just my opinion. You have to get what you like and at a price that you are happy with.
You are very close with the price . Call enough dealerships and you will have one. The further you have to travel the better they have to do to motivate you.

You are close to me and there are lots of aggessive options. Porsche Fairfield. Jack Daniels in NJ. Princeton in NJ. Pepe in White Plains. New Country in Greenwich (not so aggressive, but I do think they have cars including a beautiful white GT3 on the floor - only a cool $136k). There are plenty of options in this area if you want a new car, it has to be easy to get what you want at the best price. Used cars are completely different, but for new all these guys have cars or can get them. THis is a big market. I definitely wouldn't settle at all on a new car in this area. Personally, I would find it out of the question to buy a car without Sport Chrono. Be sure you've driven one with it before you decide to buy one without it. The responsiveness of the throttle is key to perfect downshifts. Make sure you know what you want for $100k. Cars are not moving in our area right now. As Larry suggested, wait for the end of the month as well. January must be the most painful month for Porsche sales in the NE. Don't wait until March though. Bankers get their bonuses by then and I'm sure the fancy car dealers get their fill of customers. (maybe not this year, but I'm sure volume will increase nonetheless)

For the sport chrono issue, you can get "Sprint Booster" installed at a minimal cost which improves the throttle response also. However, you don't get the change in the threshold at which PSM kicks in with the sport chrono option (and you don't get the "wart" on the dash).

Sure, but aren't there other things you don't get when you buy aftermarket v. Sport Chrono Plus? At any rate, if I were looking at a used PCar I would certainly give preference, all things being equal, to the factory Sport Chrono Plus car.

For the 2010 models, no one is guaranteeing prices yet. Put another way, no one is offering broad brush discounts. I surmise the market is too strong when the new year model is just released. For what it's worth, if you are trying to save a buck, I have been told the late 2009 models, the 997.2 that is, are the same car as the 2010. Of course, you save a buck or maybe ten thousand bucks buying one shown as a 2009, but you give it up with immediate depreciation in effect, because the car is already last year's model. Cindy and I don't care because we tend to keep our cars a decade or longer, but many people really want the latest model year. Even if you don't care personally, in two years your 2010 will be "only two years old" to a prospective buyer. A 2009 model year would be seen as three years old even if you bought it this month.
Entering your zip code and options on that Zag page USAA provides yielded an MSRP of $104,095 and although they have no dealers offering a guaranteed price, the target price Zag recommends for your negotiation is $98,200. Their statistical summary page says the "true cost" (which means invoice less holdbacks, other money the dealer receives based on overall sales, and what have you) is $91,919 with those options. A "great price", which seems to be defined as anything more than one standard deviation below the mean sale price, is anything less than $96,952 or less than $3,752 above invoice.
If I understand that this is a new car, not part of the introduction fleet used for press rides and so forth, then at $94,600 you're getting what I consider a very good deal indeed.
Just my statistician's two cents... but as an owner I would like to add that I envy your choice. Really beautiful car in Guards Red.

After driving my C4s yesterday ( and it was a blast) the sport crono is a MUST for PDK cars. My guess is the only people who do not get the car spec'd have not driven one with it.
Also, when I was in the market there were a lot of Ruby Red launch cars for 2009 at good prices and most were loaded. I did not come across many Guards Red almost seems like it was replaced by the Ruby red.
I still say u can do better out of state. Shipping is not a big deal and not very expensive.

You have held out long enough to get the Turbo cab PDK. There are all kinds of new options on that car . You won't get much (if any) of a discount . Turbo market is different and its a refresh launch but its going to be a nice car . Make sure you look at the options like PTV (includes engine mounts) , pdk, sport chrono etc.

Larry, just curious, what site are you looking at? Autotrader, Cars.com?
I always appreciate your helpful nature whenever a member is shopping for 911. I hope to be in the market soon & may look to you for help.

I looked at three Florida dealerships to see if they have the same Guards red car and none had it listed in inventory . I was curious to see if the car was that popular. I did BTW see an awesome white/sea blue C4S though , a bunch of Gt3's, and enough great cars to make me realize how bad it is to even look.

Same here . This is the ideal time for Cab shopping . Snow on the ground and cold everywhere Cabs are plentiful everywhere.

If I don't live in the region I try to learn about what other forum members who have said about it have posted. For example if he buys a used car it is important to see what level of service he may expect . Since I don't live in Jersey and don't know anything about the region I learn from others like this.... https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...y-service.html

I have a manual and I really like my "wart" on the dash. It actually works very well. It lights up only when you are using it and not with the parking lights so it doesn't distract you. You also have the ability to turn it (slightly) to the left or right which is pretty cool. When it use however it can be a little redundant. The time display in the "wart" shows both in analog and digital and at the same time it also displays your time in the onboard computer and the PCM. That's 4 places showing your time.
The S/C package also allows for individual adjustments of the lighting functions through the PCM however the real reason to select the S/C package is the sport button. When selected the throttle response is slightly altered. Truth be told the first few times I selected sport mode I wasn't sure it was working properly because the change is rather subtle at least in regular city driving but now that I'm more used to the car I can definitely tell it's working. Oh, one more thing. In sport mode the annoying upshift arrow is turned off.
