Color help + on to-order GT3-
Yesterday's drive home from work started off like any other but may prove to be an expensive one... stopped by the local dealer and test drove a stripped '07 GT3- man, it's everything that's said about it and more! It's like the C2S turned up to a "11"! Now at home on the porsche.com configurator and looking to go back to the dealer tomorrow to inquire about ordering a '10 GT3 -> couple of questions-
1) Has anyone seen the new "Dark Blue" offering on the color palette? It looks pretty nice-darker than midnite, maybe a little similar to Atlas, which is my favorite. Any pictures of any 911 is this color and opinions about it would be greatly appreciated.
2) Can I expect any discount off MSRP? I'm trying to be realistic and understand it's a niche/specialty car with limited production numbers but is even 5% off MSRP doable? I'm loathe to pay MSRP for any car, much less in this market Thanks in advance!

1) I don't know the standard blue but my local dealerrship had one listed in Riviera Blue and I won't even go and look at it . It has every option I would want . I would have chosen Mexico Blue which is a light blue if I were to spec the car . An unusual shade really makes the Gt3 look even more amazing .
2) Discounts --I was told none three months ago. I read on 6speed that some got marginal discounts . It makes no sense to me . The production numbers on Gt3's are high. I see dealership after dealership which list them in inventory .
Very important -- Go over each option. There are some options that are very desireable like engine mounts . Order sport chrono .. if driven for street use get the lift . You will need to order Ps2's if this is astreet car . The Cup tires are not recommended for the rain . Sport Bucket seats are desireable .
BTW --I walked away from the car . I refuse to pay MSRP for a Gt3 when I see that many in inventory and would take a loss on my 997S. . I felt that a 997S modded at 20 percent off was a better value and I like my white car but if I had to do it all over again I would have picked the Gt3. Next time.
Good luck!!!!!!

Which color are you exactly talking about? The only blue available in the website is Aqua Blue Metallic, which looks really sweet in reality
You can always try to get a discount, there is nothing wrong with trying to save some money... Just give it a shot!

I was in my local dealer where they have had a new, black GT3 sitting on the showroom floor for months now (not sure if it's a '09 leftover or a '10) but in nay case they offered a discount on the car without me asking. Don't pay list for a GT3

Hey fang, I had the privilege to see both colours (Riviera Blue and Aquabluemet) in real life at my second internship at Porsche.
First the Riviera Blue.
As you can see its really bright, but the picture doesn´t really do the colour justice. Not everybody likes this colour, I love it though. Somebody described it as Bubblegum Blue, its a real Eye-Catcher. You have to see it in real.
The aquabluemet. (Left GT3 of course, ;-))
Same here again: Looks way better in real life. Its a colour that looks great and you cant do anything wrong with it.
In my opinion, you will always get heads turned with a GT3, but the Riviera Blue is a "neckbreaker".

IMHO - Aquabluemet is way classier. But I am color blind as you can see I drive a silver car.

To the OP and Mr. yrralis1:
Pioneer Centres in San Diego has a 2010 maritim blue GT3. This make the car really stand out and this car is also well equipped. Visit their website.

I assume that this close to what yrrallis1 was talking about. I hope that helps. When I grew up in Germany there was a rubystone red Carrera RS (964 model) a true candy color but I always liked on this particular car.

@utkin: Youre right on that one. Its definetely classier, than the Riviera. Tbh, I´d take them both in a blink of an eye. Both colours are beautiful.
=D Nothing wrong with a silver 911 Utkin, it is still the most sold colour on a Porsche and this with a reason.

Find a car on the ground if you want one in 2010.
Gotta disagree my friend. Sport chrono in a non-pdk (GT3/GT3RS) car only provides the dreaded "wart" (timer clock on top of the dash) which is useless and an eyesore. Yes, adds a few personalization tweaks in the PCM, but of no great importance. Sport chrono in a manual trans car is a waste of money. I made it a specific point to NOT spec it on my RS. Otherwise excellent points as always!

Sorry, but mental masturbation. I think the chances of getting a build in the next 9-10 months is about 0-1%. The allocations were locked up long ago and I think the actual builds are over for the year as well.

Sayboy --I don't recall what the specifics are but the sport chrono on the new Gt3 has some desireable features . I can find out exactly what they are . All I recall was an informal discussion with technicians who made mention of it in passing. I do not know if this is the case with the Gt3 Rs as i did notice that in the Porsche video it is not equiiped with it. Next time I am with the technicians I will discuss it at length along with a few other questions that others on 6speed have asked me.
Blandandjet - That car looks nice . It lacks the lift though which for me woild be a necessity .
The Riviera blue car is gorgeous . But I am not buying a Gt3 . i think I missed my opportunity and am not ready to give up my PDK car .

Thanks as always for all the replies. Although silver always looks great, and the white is the "signature" color of the GT3, I'd like something a little different. Aqua, Maritime, and Riviera blue are all nice, but maybe a little bright for me; that's why I thought the "Dark Blue" option on the porsche.com GT3 configurator looked pretty nice- kinda like Atlas. I just liked at the porsche website again- it's there under "Metallic Colors". Have any of you seen this particular blue?
I agree with yrralis1- hard to pay MSRP for a car that is made in limited quantities yet fairly widely available. I really don't want/need many options- on the configurator, I only added Full Leather, metallic color and nothing else. The base car is spectacular as is. I'll let you guys know what happens tomorrow re: ordering a 2010 vs 2011, any available discounts, and trade in value on my '07 C2S-

It makes no sense to me and it does not even matter why. I just won't buy one at that price and time is always on the side of the buyer.
