How long will you keep your 911?
#32
Hmmm...my warranty runs out 2/2012, so we'll see. If she's reliable and I can get some faith that my engine won't be destroyed by IMS failure, then I'll keep her. I've already put over $2500 into it, would be a shame to just trade it.

Now my girl friends... That's different. I've had one since my junior year of high school and we got married in our sophomore year of college. Coming up on 48 years now so I suppose we'll stick with it.
Think our Carrera will last that long?

Hmmm. I remember having three cars in high school. They were all fun, but essentially crap. I mean having to fill the radiator every fifteen miles can get old, even when you're young.

Well, I figure 6k a year is nominal, so we're talking less than 300,000 miles and I know a guy who...
Oh, the marriage! Yep. Ain't it grand? Really pays to marry a friend. Then you can work out all that other stuff as it comes along. Cars wear out faster than friends.

I know you men are obsessed with Porsches......but some of this "trick my spouse to get my next Porsche" seems a bit childish, doesn't it? tsk tsk.
If my husband ever tricked me so he could buy something....I will make it a point to sell his Ferrari......to the pool boy......for 1 dollar.

While I'm thoroughly enjoying my 2008 Cab (meteor/black), I already have the bug for more horsepower and and a flashier color combo. I was opportunistic in my purchasing of this car new in 8/09, and I find myself continuing to peruse the ads in search of a killer deal. I can be happy with this car for many years, but also won't hesitate to jump if the right deal comes along.

amylynn,
I'll clean your pool FOR FREE for a full season if you give me your husband's Ferrari. I may even consider extending that offer to two seasons if he has an Enzo.

This car seems like a real keeper. It's the most enjoyable car I've ever owned and driven. Having done a significant number of mods make it far more enjoyable and the money paid for them will never be recouped.
I suspect I'm on solid ground here in that I have a track record of keeping cars that I like (or don't see the value in replacing them):
1983 Saab 900 - 13 years (shouldn't have sold it)
1989 Saab 9000S - 20 years and still going
2000 Lexus LX470 - 10 years and still going
