Not really much price difference in my case. The brunt of my insurance cost goes to uninsured motorist which really is a necessity in Miami . Also with high limits and umbrella coverage the rates go up even further. Add to that the modifications and no mileage restrictions plus having a homeowners separate ( Florida is hurricane territory).

The bottom line is that in order to drive a Porsche in this economy where people do sue , have no mileage limits, and be covered if some uninsured person collides-- it costs extra . In order to take a passenger and be covered for him/her it costs extra .
In order to modify a car it costs extra . In order to feel confident that in the event of an accident enough precaution was taken in advance to cover all assets --costs money.

It's still pennies for dollars. One could go through ten years saving money on insurance premiums and all it takes is one negative thing to wipe out all that was saved .

I don't even feel the 7K I pay a year to insure two Porsches and an m3.

Reason I suggested, I saved @ $300 per 6 month premium...more money for me to mod!

BTW when I met my Gf she paid MORE for a Honda Civic that i paid for my Turbo because at that time her son was a teen and her elderly parent resided in the same household.

As for those who claim "weekend" use . I considered it but it wasn't that much less and I don't want any mileage restrictions .

Lastly -- if one is under insured -- I think its absurd . Do you really think that if there's ever a collision in a modified Porsche that anyone will sympathize ? Do you think no one will sue? Do you think bare minimum policy or near minimum is acceptable?

One more point .. I have FULL DISCLOSURE on every modification done to my cars provided in writing to my insurance company. I can not imagine driving around with extra Hp giving any insurance company the opportunity to deny a claim based on their expectations of a car that is stock.
I think you are correct. I am not sure we are comparing apples to apples. Even though we are in different states and all things are not equal, I carry an umbrella as well as UIM and $1 Mil limits as well. Since I live in a hurricane prone as well a flood capable region I need more coverage. I was thinking I was paying more than I should be but now I think my rate isnt that bad for the car. It could be much worse as I had in the past.

I agree. I have four cars insured and been with the same company for a little over 30 years - great driving record, etc. The underinsured/uninsured rider is on one car and covers all four. The update for 6 months.....the corrected cost is $385/6 months or $770/year. Factored in is driving 7,500 miles per year.

I see you're in Portland as well. We do have good rates compared to some others around the country (i.e., New York, Cali, Florida).

I'm paying $1596/yr. Not my primary car, single, no tickets. I'm with Travelers insurance right now. Jersey certainly isn't the greatest state when it comes to auto insurance.

I live in NH and have a 997.2 C2S I pay $263 every 6 months. The car is the third on our policy and not the primary car for either my wife or I. We use state farm and also have our house with them. Currently I am paying $9/mo. for comp. only during the winter while I'm not driving it.
