997.2 Question re: Brake pads etc

Have a Non-S 997 and I cant find race pads that fit the fronts. Are there any available yet? I know pagid says they are developing some (not sure when they will come out).

Can I install the brake kit from the S model or even the GT3?

If not, is it worth going with a brembo big brake kit.

Want to drive on the track this year, but dont wantto hold back because I am on stock pads.

Possibly try Porterfield and see what they have. Their link should be porterfield-brakes.com.

This is a GT3 Brake Kit that is available for the 997.1S, not sure if it will work for your car, try calling Suncoast.

Thanks..... checked them out. Dont think the GT3 kit fits (for some reason) and Porterfield does have the rears but not the fronts.

Guess Porsche dont expect the non S cars to be run on the track

May have to go Brembo BBK or trade the 911 for a Cayman S. OTOH E46 are coming down in price........maybe I could track that and keep the 911 for posing.

I thought that the 997.2 had the same brakes as the 997.1S. Call Craig at RennStore, he is pretty knowledgable about the available parts for our cars.

Have done that .... he was also dissapointed at the lack of the front pad availability for the new car. He forwarded me an email he sent to Pagid last fall saying he has had a lot of customers asking for track/sport pads for the 997.2

You are right, the rotor size is the same, as the 997.1 S but they are not identical. I think the newer closed calipers are the problem.

I know you can upgrade the S rotors to the ceramic, but you cant for the non-S.

Anyway am seriously looking at Brembos, to see if they would work. Just hoping they are not too much heavier than stock.

I was at the dealer last week. The service manager was pretty sure Hawk just came out with a DE set. Might be worth looking into.

I'll keep a lookout for it. Hawk's site isnt too helpful. Stoptech and Performance Friction dont seem to have anything for it yet. I think I made the mistake of getting the base car. Should have waited (saved a bit more) for the S. I'm a bit of a klutz when it comes to buying cars!

Did find a 99 M3 at a dirt cheap price. Might just buy that and strip it down for the track. Done right, they can be quite a bit of fun and reasonably fast. At least will have an endless supply of parts for it.

Will keep the 911 for the road (which seems pointless as up in this neck of the woods we dont have any decent roads to drive on) for now, but might trade it in for something more ordinary (I have just got into a Yamaha R6 ... so can get thrills from that).

I believe that the pads for the 09 997.2 and the 05-08 997.1S are the same. Also these are the same as a 996GT3.

Here are the part numbers you need

Pagid RS 29 Yellow's
Front E2474 290 10
Rear E2405 290 10

Performance Friction PF97
Front 7818.97.17.44
Rear 0776.97.17.44

EBC pads for 997.2 non-s

Looks like EBC now has several compounds available for the 997.2 non-s.

EBC Yellow Kevlar race
Front part number? E35DP41514R Rear E35DP41208R

EBC Red Ceramic low dust
Front E35DP31514C Rear E35DP31920C

EBC Green Organic ? Maybe?

This information is according to discountbrakes.com

Wondering if Rennstore or any of our sponsors carry EBC?
I'd rather buy from a Porsche specialty store.
discountbrakes.com looks like a big box store

These are in my car. PAGID has wrong number in one of their catalogues. Vivid Racing can get them and are great to deal with. Craig at Rennstore didn't have a clue.
