What's it worth?
Keninirvine's recent post has me wanting a cab. I would appreciate input on the value of my car. Its a 2008 997S coupe equipped as follows: Meteor w/ black standard leather, 6 speed, Carrera Sports, power seats, heated seats, Bose, Navigation, red seat belts, red leather trimmed mats, and chrome exhuast tips. I bought the car new about 2 years ago. It has 5,500 miles on it and is in pristine condition. No dents, scratches or stories.
Thanks

Sport Chrono also - how could I forget about that one?

That's a nice car. Someone from here ought to buy it. You are asking what's it's worth (as a seller) and I've seen 08 cars still asking in the mid to upper 70's which would close in the upper 60's --but they aren't selling. I believe you can ask whatever you want but can get in the low 60's . Keep in mind that if you trade it in on a cab they offer less but pull the tax credit into the trade. They would CPO your current car and make money .
One thiing that is very important -if you are buyinga Cab in the northeast you better buy it NOW. Once the spring comes the demand grows .
If you wait --both Florida and California always have Cabs but the travel and transport adds onto the cost.

I believe you ought to get a fair price . A lot of folks ask about used cars --in my opinion --yours is the one to buy. It's just a huge headache to do a private sale though and I tend to avoid it at all costs because the idea of a large financial transaction with a stanger generates too many concerns .
In order to equal the 62K they have to offer high 50's and pull the tax into the new car or they have to discount the new car and with no incentives on 2010 cars thry have less room . By the time Porsche offers incentives .. you'll face the spring rush of cab buyers in yoiur area.
You may want to keep the car . I know i kept my 09 even though i see a Riviera Blue Gt3 at my local dealership that is just pinching me.

5,500 miles and your are probably going to take a $30,000 to $40,000 hit from the price you paid for it. At $30,000 that is $5.45/mile, at $40,000 that is $7.27/mile. Now it might be worth $5,000 more than a car with 30-40Km aybe even $10,000 but I doubt it. It is very expensive to buy these cars and NOT DRIVE THEM!!
For some reason people think they are saving something by keeping the miles on these cars really low, but they are just giving the value to the next buyer. I would tell anyone who thinks about buying one to plan on driving it alot as it is going to go way down it value even if you don't.

If he drove it more he'd get even less back and those memories might include wasted miles in a great car, extra cost for service, dents, dings, flat tires , and the lack of retaining and preserving its newness .
In fact those very items will be the logic they use to sell his car and make 15 grand profit.
Someone ought to see through this that his care given to the car retains more value . If they don't . and if the worst case scenario is that he decides NOT to buy the cab .. then he's still has a beautiful car .
He's not the one that loses . His worst case is still better than them losing a sale entirely to greed.

I bought the car with a 12% discount in 2008 and would likely be looking at a pre-owned Cab. I bought new once and took a bath and will think long and hard before ever buying a new Porsche again. My dealer offered me in the VERY low 50s on trade yet they have a 2008 CPO 997S cab with 10k miles that they are asking 78k for. I was thinking of my car plus not much more.
I like convertibles and, at the time I bought the 997, had a 335i convertible as my daily driver that I returned once the lease ended. I convinced myself then that a coupe would have better resale and would hold up better over the long haul. Now I find myself missing top down driving . . . but not enough to pony up significant extra cash.
Anyone got a cab they want to trade?

a few months ago, I was looking at purchasing 09, dealers were offering 20% off new. I read that some place were offering even more off but I never saw it.

I agree with you 100 percent. You may very well end up keeping that car.

I thought a swap would be possible - my '08 coupe for an '07 cab - with little out of pocket, but it looks like I was wrong. Gonna keep my eyes out for clean cab and if I don't see one, maybe I'll start with the mods on my current car - gotta keep it fresh.

It all depends on the dealer- I just traded in a '07 C2S Arctic/blk, 15K miles, Bose, Nav, Heated seats, PSE, Chrono, Sports shifter, 2 owners, CPO, to our local dealer for $55K, and now they're asking $67.9 (no CPO)- which doesn't sound ridiculous. It's hard to believe that your dealer is giving you low 50's for a pristine, well-equipped, newer, lower mile, one owner C2S in a very desirable color-

It is easier to trade up than sideways .
It is hardest to trade down (ie -if he wanted a Boxter and asked for a check for the difference).

Trade in offer just upped significantly but ver little movement on the inflated asking price on the '08 cab.
If anyone knows of a clean, fairly priced, low mileage 2005 - 2008 997S or 4S cab, let me know.
