painting brake caliper
#16
Take it to a reputable body shop in your area. Preferably one that does PCars. So you will have the OEM colors for your calipers. Nothing worse than a bad yellow or red color after you're done. Make sure they take the brakes off and the caliper paint "baked" on. So it would be heat resistant. They should guarantee their work that it won't chip. I had mine done on a Porsche body shop and so far two years and still looking good.

Oh, I think I see what you mean now. Well, some non-S owners simply want them "red" to add some color -- that's the long and short of it. Like on my Elise, they come unpainted, but I wanted them red because it looks better to me. Actually, I have painted the calipers on every car I have owned. Just a personal taste thing. Looks only... no other benefit.

good paint shop will do a couple of coats and then clear coat.Mine are yellow and I race autocross so they get hot.No fading.

At least choose a different shade red or people might think it is an "S"....
BTW - A younger kid (late 20's, stranger) parked next to me a few months ago in a parking lot to talk about our P-cars He had red calipers, custom "S" floormats, no rear badge, and told me it was an '05 997 "S". I believed him, until I sat in it and noticed he had standard door sills. He also had only two rear tail pipes. I told him "nice car", and didn't exchange info.
We've seen this thread before.

Or if you do not want to cause 'S' owners any grief - you can choose orange or other shade of bright paint, but one thing for sure - any bright color is better than plain black.

Or Arctic Silver?
TOO Boring?

It is a matter of a personal taste I guess. I would do pure white instead of silver. Red is a traditional caliper color, so, that is why I suggested it.
Here attached is an image of how G2 red paint looks like. I am a sloppy painter so do not take that against me. Not if I would care anyway plus from 4' distance no one can see any imperfections anyway. Close-up photo shows more details than eye can even see. When I look at it I see no irregularities on surface, but under flash it looks like there are some. Well, no big deal for me.
Like I said before - major issue here is for weather not to bee too cold as it takes forever for paint to dry up when it`s cold and you cannot apply decals on wet paint so you have to keep car on jacks.
