Bluetooth Verdict? and more..
I've done many searches on both Rennlist and here and find there are three bluetooth makers that integrate into our PCM (Nav-TV tooki, mObridge and Dension). My question is... 1) Is there anyway to use the OEM mic or at least use the area of the OEM mic and work? 2) What is the verdict to which is the overall best for quality and compatibility? 3) Do they work on a Palm Pre?
Thanks in advance..

I also am curious as I would like to do this as well, but I believe there is a difference with the 997.1 and 997.2 (I have an '8). Also would be interested in capability of satelite on the above possibilities. And cost (I think there are a lot of $ at play here). I will watch with you for some opinions.

I have an 06 C2S cab that i just went through all of this with. the end up was that i went with navtv for SIRIUS and mobridge for the bluetooth and ipod (in one unit). i had a lot of bugs with the sat but the mobridge workes very well for bluetooth. i tried several mic locations and ended up with putting it on the bottom of the rear view mirror. i believe if you have factory phone option they can use the factory mic, not 100% as i dont have that option, the kit comes with the mike and it is actually a double so you and a pas can speak and be heard

I have a Tooki and it works well, paired with iphone, Nokia, Motorola, and Blackberry without problems. I haven't try to wire the factory microphone to it, but the included one works so well I just left it there.
You will hear people with issues on various models, because they are probably using older firmware revisions. The Tooki can be updated to newer firmware by the user, which was a plus for me.

I have an '09, and the "factory" BT was installed at the dealer. I was reluctant to spend the $800 that it cost, but now I'm 100% satisfied with it's performance.
I thought it was just adding a PCM module, but as I understand, the microphone was part of the kit. It was something like a 3-4 hour install.

I spoke with Eric at Bumperplugs who sells the nav-tv and dennison. He notes that the dennison is easier to update and has had fewer returns. He thus recommends the dennison combo (bluetooth and i-pod). Interestingly, he told me there is no satelite unit which can make use of the PIM screen. Is anyone aware of a sat unit which can? (Again, the above is based on the 997.1.)

I have an 06 and there is no mic in the OEM spot - presumably unless you ordered the factory phone kit (or it changed in later model years). OEM= the small holes on the top of your steering column. There are two empty plastic mounting points, but no mic.
I opened it up to place a tooki mic there and took it out because my voice was muffled according to folks on the phone.

Thanks Bob.. so your voice was muffled... I was hoping to hear the opposite as I am a big "OEM Look" person.. I wonder if a higher quality mic would help if placed in the oem steering column area... I might just be wishfully thinking... Thanks again guys.

Also have Tooki bluetooth, and i'm very happy with it. The one important lesson i learnt regarding the Tooki (and i'm not sure if this applies to the other solutions) is that if your PCM software revision is below 4.0 (ie 3.0/3.2) you'll only get audio out the passenger side which is annoying. Luckily (or not) my PCM died and was replaced under warranty w/a new one which came with 4.x

Suncoast sells the factory satelite unit for the Cayenne. I have had mine for almost two years and am very satisfied. Works great. They are a board sponsor.
