I know, another car seat thread...new alternative?

I ordered a Porsche Junior seat from the dealer in October last year. They have said diddley about not being able to get it in? So I called 800 Porsche, they said they have "different" information than the dealers and took my order this Monday with an indication that it should be in within 30 days. I'll be pleasantly surprised if the seat comes in within 30 days.

Tried a cosco seat and even reversed the buckle receptacle to face more rearward. It was floppy and far from acceptable. I'm not a tinkerer and so that seat went back. My hope is that this new Porsche junior seat will work for 2 reasons 1) it should be better contoured to fit in the back of the 997 (no pillow, padding or extra junk necessary under the base; and 2) more importantly it has the Britax built in seat belt tensioners to get a nice tight fit.

But...here's the reason for my post. Check out this Ferrari seat below. Aside from brand loyalty issues and the fact that it only comes in super distracting bright red, it had 5 reclining positions and ins't particularly wide at 18.1 inches. Also, its designed for a seat belt install instead of latch, so it should have some form of built in tensioner. I think it can go in the back of a California which is pretty tight. But the real attraction is that its 1/4 the price of the Porsche seat and presumably available now.

I'm waiting the 30 days and if it's not in, I'll consider cancelling the Porsche order and really giving this seat some though (despite the dreadful color). More info on this seat here: http://store.ferrari.com/en/kids/acc...osmo-quot.html

Any thoughts from any 997 drivers with car seats?

Regards,
David

Dreadful color !!! Are you kidding me? It is sacrilege to make a car seat of an Italian sports car in any other color. Go with that unless you are looking for a carseat to fill your minivan. That one is great.

Keep checking ebay and craigslist locally. Every now and then you can pick up a lightly used Porsche Junior Seat for $300 or less.

i think that's a cool looking seat - not sure if the base is too wide for the 911 but if it fits in the back of the california ,it may work.

i'm a big fan of the porsche seats but the junior seat is latch only IIRC. i got one for the front seat and put in the airbag deactivation kit. i NEVER use it because if i put the 2 year old up there the 6 year old is pissed.

i have the 2 booster seats for the back of my C2S but the little guy isn't big enough for that.

regardless of you get, i found taking out the seat backs adds a lot of room and if you put a full car seat back there, you might be able to make it fit better by removing the cushions also...

edit: suncoast has the junior seats in stock http://www.suncoastparts.com/product//95504480039.html

Recaro Vivo's..for 3+. You didn't say how old your child was. My 8 yr. old doesn't even need a booster in the 997 now. My 5 yr. old sits back there with a booster. We actually got a Graco to fit back there with the seat bottom removed.

How often does the Ferrari seat need to be serviced?
