West Coast of Florida Visit

This morning I'm heading to Sarasota area (Anna Maria Island) for a long weekend family visit. Since I'm in the area for the first time I'm planning on stopping at Suncoast to see what they're all about. Is there anything else a 997 guy must see or do while down there? I'll check back on my laptop from Florida......

Thanks,
Bob

Welcome! Suncoast is a great dealer but all the parts and add on's they sell is not really out on display.

You are only about 1hr from Sebring raceway and right now there are always some cars testing for the 12hr race or Indy teams testing. Might be worth a short drive over to check it out. Plus they have a nice new gift shop and performance pro shop run by Wine Country Motorsports on site open all day.

Other than that enjoy the fresh seafood...too bad it's going to be unseasonally cold this weekend.

Not a Porsche thing but something to do with the family, the Salvador Dali Musuem in St Petersburg is great. It's just up the road from where you're staying and you get to it via the Sunshine Skyway Bridge at the bottom of Tampa Bay. The bridge is quite a sight and the Musuem has either the worlds greatest or one of the greatest collections of Dali works.

On Saturday there is a car show in St Armands Circle, I believe an exotic type show. Here is the info, a few of us will be there. Look for a Panamera Turbo, and our Titanium Ed 911.

The show info: St Armands Circle Association

Just a little south of Sarasota is Sanibel and Captiva Island . Weather permitting there are some great dolphin bout tours where one gets to see them swimming free in open waters. There's also waveruner tours , parasailing eyc. There are some nice shops and restuarants on the island .

If you stay on the island for a night --this is a five star resport complete with kitchen and full amenities . I happen to like the Marina Villa . In my opinion --this is the best hidden treasure of South Florida. http://www.southseas.com/
