997.1 center speaker cover

Hi all,
I need to replace my center speaker cover (near windshield) - I pried it up yesterday and I can remove the cover, however, there are a couple wires that attach to a rather elaborate plastic piece, which in turn attaches to the black 'bump' on top of the cover. Is this for the alarm ? What is a safe way to remove this ? I didn't want to use force for fear of breaking something. Anybody done this DIY ? Thanks.

SSandy is infamous around these parts
The manual says that the GPS receiver is in this location. Perhaps that's what you're seeing. On my Audi's there was a sensor in this location that was used by the air conditioner to compensate for direct sunlight coming in through the windshield.

I believe that is the temp sensor. Should just unplug.

Correct. It is the Air Conditioning Sensor.

Thanks for the replies, you gave me enough courage to try it again. There are 2 wires that lead up to an orange/white plastic piece that snaps into the cover using 3 clips. Take a flathead screwdriver and gently pry up a clip, and take your thumb and gently push the black sensor down and the whole thing pops out. Done!!
