Out of curiosity...
"My" January build 997S could not be changed so I passed on it. the dealer tried to convince me that I would be happy with a 997 basic, and suggested that adding PASM to a basic car would be a smart option.
As usual you take this kind of comment with half a salt mine, but out of curiosity has anyone driven a base 997 with PASM and 18" wheels?

The base Carrera with pss9's might be the way to go, you get the ride height and handling setting you want. and you can always SC it.
the 997S is a bit faster than the base model, but both are great cars IMO.

Exactly what I am thinking... the base car with pss9's and supercharger will probably be the best thing out there until the 997 turbo hits the streets.

On my '05 997 January build I ordered the following:
Seal Grey Metallic, Standard leather seats in black, PASM, 19 inch Carrera S wheels, Electrically adjustable seats, BOSE Surround Sound System, Bi-Xenon lighting system, Sport Chrono Package Plus, CDC-4 six disc CD autochanger, Heated seats, Three-spoke sports steering wheel in leather, Deletion of model designation. I have decided that the standard 997 is fast enough for me... I have rather opted for handling options in this vehicle.

If you're considering a base 997, why not look at a remaining '05 C4S, there are a few out there I'm sure you would get a great deal too. AWD, sport suspension, turbo brakes, turbo radiator, etc. Just add the SC and go!
Here I go again Flynn.

As to the C4S, I came to the conclusion that I prefered rwd to awd - the car felt nose heavy and I could never get the back to come out when I wanted it to as the drive seemed to be shunted to the front wheels.
I still have a slot for a 997S April build but I'm using the time between now and then to make sure it's the best option. I'm also looking at a 996 Anniversary. I've found a couple with almost zero miles and priced in the mid 70's. That's the price for a reasonably equiped 997, but with 25 more hp.
