In general, should I be worried about a Car Fax like this one?

http://www.euroclassics.com/web/inventory/preowned

Car is on this site - listed as a 2006 C2S, Atlas Grey. Tons of options, CPO, but I'm unsure about the past. Check out the carfax link.

The car looks like it was leased for 3 years, then shows a new owner, inspection in New Hampshire, and Auction in Pennsylvania, all within 100 miles on the odometer. Seems odd, but it is certified now and the pictures look good.

Thoughts?

Strange - I think it's working now. Otherwise, the car is here:

http://www.euroclassics.com/web/inventory/preowned

It's the Atlas Grey Metallic 2006 C2S. Nice option list, maybe a sketchy past?

Guys - I've updated the info in the first post. If anyone's interested, check out the car and let me know what you think.

I found the car.

On the one hand, CPO status removes some worry about the car, but on the other hand, I'm no fan of a car that's been auctioned. But that could also mean nothing.

Either way, the price is too high.

I agree about auctioned cars! In my mind, that means the car wasn't good enough for the dealer to bother selling. If it was a great car, the dealer would keep it and sell it, right?

Agreed on the price - although just about every CPO car I see like this one seems to be about the same asking price. Low to mid 60's if it has low mileage.

Another possibility is that the car was at a dealership that closed and they auctioned their inventory to liquidate their assets.

Some dealerships auction cars if they are traded to another manufacturer -or because they have enough area indendent competitors or as someone mentioned to liquidate the assets.

I don't care for auctioned cars.
You want the car to come out of the gate with NO doubts .
It's worth paying more to avoid uncertainty.

it does have nice options .. it also is 4 years old and isn't cheap.

All kidding aside it's nearly impossible to find the car in your region. Colorado is hit or miss with coupes . Outside of that area the closest which has the most selection is Southern California . You might be able to find, and get inspections done but I almost think it woild be easier to plan a one week car buying vacation where you drive the cars . negotiate in person and let the dealerships know that you hope to leave with a car .. but would be willing to take a bus home above paying too much.

I think one week in So Cal would do it.

I pick that region above the Northeast and Florida for two reasons -

1) Northeast has tougher roads and with a used car , the snow. salt . potholes are wear and tear . and theres more volume in So Cal.

2) Florida -
Used market is tough here . So many independent dealerships exist and with that comes more risk . Also the recent rain flood produced alot of cars with water damage. By now they are probably repaired .. no good.

Plant yourself in Los Angeles .. give a week and you will have a car. LA and San Diego .. have a huge Porsche region. Plus it's a great place to hang out .

I agree there's a pretty good inventory in So Cal, all within 100 miles of L.A. Google "socal porsche dealers" and you'll get a page with links to all of them from San Diego up to Santa Barbara.
