997 autobahn top speed run
Well, I moved to Germany back in Aug 09. The car shipper got my 997 here a month later. In Nov 09, I had the opportunity to try a top speed run on the autobahn during a late drive home after a long day in the office. I've been meaning to report the results to everyone, but have let it slip until now.
So as I put the pedal to the metal, I managed to hit 291 km/h before letting off the gas due to seeing a few cars way ahead. I'm confident there was more in her, but it's hard to stomach going that fast even with a few other cars on the road.
The 997 has been parked for Winter, but in Spring, I think I'll try another autobahn run on an early Sunday morning to see what I can manage...but with a video camera.

Without knowing anything about your car (and even if I did) I'd suggest that you have already maxed; a couple years ago I ran mine up to 159mph (156 on the gps) on decent street tires on a road I was very familiar with before I chickened out. Really, really stupid of me, and I've had race experience.

Can't wait to here what you get it up to on a clean open road for a few miles.
I have been up to 167 according to my speedo...which knowing Porsche is 3mph fast. I did this numerous times in the tri oval at Daytona.

why stupid (other than illegal)?
These cars are made for high speed, lived in Germany for years, member of Porsche Club there and we used the very empty Autobahn south of Munich for breakfast runs; nobody ever had an issue.
Had my S at 285kmh, Turbo at 305kmh - all on stock tires
No worries

Stupid of ME; I try to refrain from judging others so my observation was not an indictment.
25-30 years ago I ran a couple of Turbos up over 150 and I've had the Viper over 160. None-the less some substantial racing experience in both cars and motocross, and some high performance driver training - not just a few DE's, does not qualify me to be running down any road at these speeds, particualrly in a basically stock vehicle. I suspect that there are some very good/experienced drivers on this forum; equally, I also suspect there are a few members with perhaps more money than knowledge who might have a little problem when they hit a little bump at 150+ and the front end starts floating.
