To buy or not to buy...that is the question!
So I am considering trading my 2005 C2 Seal Gray Coupe with 33k miles on it for the following:
2006 C2S Cab Seal Gray with only 10K miles, CPO car, Sport Seats, Sports Chrono, PASM, Bose ect.
The main difference in the upgrade is a year newer, it's an S, it's CPO, PASM, sport seats, and it's a convertible. Everything else is pretty much the same. I had added to my car a short shift, Cargraphic mufflers, clear bra and tinted windows all of which I would lose and have to repurchase.
So the question is, they are offering to take my car on trade and $25K for the difference including all taxes and DMV fees.
Is it worth the $$ and is this a good deal?!?!

I think if you give this a night's rest, you'll discover how terrible of a deal this is. Here's a quick-n-dirty breakdown (which is highly simplified for demonstration purposes:
* Say they give you $45,000 for your '05
* Add $25,000 that you'd pay
Therefore, you just bought yourself a $70K 2006 C2S Cab. You can probably get a gently used '09 C2S cab for $75 - $79K if you look and negotiate hard enough.
The real equation, however, is how much you can reasonably sell your '05 retail, and how much a dealer will be willing to sell you an '06 cab of your liking. I'm confident that the delta would be much smaller than $25K. But even then, I would advise against it.

Hard decision. 25K is 25k less in your pocket and the fact that you ask .. reveals some doubt.
Few questions-
1) Are you sure that you want a cab?
2) Is your current car giving problems?
If you love the new car ..then it is a good deal. If you are not sure .. then I'd say wait .

this deal doesn't sound good to me at all. your car worths ~45k as others have said, the 06 C2S cab is around 55-58k, so unless the deal is your car + ~11k then you have a fair deal. 25k sounds ridiculously high.
i suggest you sell your car privately first.

Wow kinda suprised at all the thumbs down responses. I guess I was thinking I maybe I could get $45K if very lucky selling private but looking at the market and what's currently out there I would realistically get not much more than $40K. So assuming $43K for mine and $57K for theirs I would be paying $62K($57K plus taxes)-$43K(Selling private)= $19K diff. So would $20K and my car be worth it? I may be able to talk them down a bit more. Sounds like with the deal I am getting currently it would be about $5K over what I could get selling privately in this bad market. Anyone want a '05 mint C2??

i have to agree with the others, not a good deal. the big variable no one has mentioned which would sway the deal quite a bit, but still likely not make it a good deal, is if your car is beat and the cab is pristine. even in this case, still 25k is too much!

Please show me where I can find an '09C2S Cab for that price. I searched high and low and there is none even close to this price.

I don't know where you guys are getting 45K for his trade in , even Kbb lists it at 29K (fair value is what most dealerships give) . So figure they give him 30 +25 =55K for his Cab. I still think he ought to give it more thought.

Right. You just get hammered when you do a trade in. It simplifies things maybe, but you pay dearly for the convenience. I hate having to deal with selling a car, but when the deal is over, I am always VERY glad I did it rather than trade. Especially if you are considering a trade, you can afford to sell at a price that will move the car quickly and still come out better. Although, you have to calc the break even point and consider taxes - if you trade, at least in GA and some states, you only pay tax on the difference above the trade value. If you sell, then buy, you pay tax on the whole thing. That said, selling has always been better for me.
