REbuild Caliper for Paint job?
All the places that I've called (locally) want me to take the caliper completely apart for them to paint it. Does this make sense? The rebuild kit is only $50 per caliper but still, what a pain!
Anyone done this? Any advice? I've tried painting myself and still haven't given up on the idea but it's not looking up. I'm just not patient enough haha.
Is reusing the old seals a big no-no?

They're still $125 a caliper and they still need to be torn down completely.
I think I'm just going to have to bite the bullet and tear them down and get it done right.
My worst fear is that I spend all this money and they they end up peeling or getting nasty. I guess only time will tell.

Final result will be pretty much the same anyway.

G2 kit comes with very comprehensive instructions. Only DIY trick about this is how to get car on 4 jack stands as you need to take all wheels off. For that one can find several articles on where you can mount your lift.

I've painted the calipers on a couple of cars without removing them. Make sure you use a good spray-on brake cleaner to remove all brake dust and grease, then completely dry the caliper (I used a hair dryer). If you spend the time to carefully mask and cover anything that you don't want painted the results should be satisfactory. This includes dust covers, wires, bolt heads, the brake pads, etc. Then, spray your choice of paint/color, allowing adequate drying between coats. I used a quality industrial grade enamal spray paint I found at Lowes that stood up very well to the brake heat (Corvette and Mustang) and the various wheel cleaning solutions without fading or chipping away.

There is no much to explain there - it is literally just painting. Only important step is to clean old calipers properly and take off all dirt and dust.

I've already pulled the pistons and the seals and ordered the rebuild kits. I know it's potentially a waste of money but I think I'll be super happy with the result. They're gonna 2 part spray and clear the calipers and I've got the stickers on the way from Suncoast. I'll post up some pics when I get the finished product back

I think Duplicolor has a high temp kit for repainting the calipers. I think if you are going to do this you SHOULD pull them off. Look them over, get to know your brakes. The knowledge you will gain from this will be HUGE. And frankly you SHOULD know this about your brakes. The next time you have a brake issue you will be confident in pulling your brakes off and looking them over AND if need be, fixing them. Its a GREAT first step in learning about one of the greatest cars ever made and give you the confidence in doing bigger and more important jobs on your 911.
