No Bose - dealbreaker?

Bose
Bose BLOWS ! I have it in my 2007 C4S and am VERY disappointed. I bought the car last August and it was optioned with Bose. If you are planning on purchasing a 997.1 I would NOT look for Bose. I understand that there have been some improvements with Bose on the 997.2 models.

My '06 997 C4 came without Bose. I could have hunted around for another car with Bose but my car had everything else I wanted. I compared the sound from a non-Bose car with a Bose car and yes, I think the Bose sounded better. It just wasn't that much better. While I've had and enjoyed Bose in other cars I've owned, I haven't missed it in the Porsche. More often I'm listening to the sound of the engine rather than radio - that's the best sound of all.

Exhaust vs Bose ?
I am reading a lot of this .
I love my exhausts (Tubi race -997tt and FVD -997S)
But there are times when quietly cruizing down the highway with my Gf on a Sunday afternoon when music and conversation is needed.
I think the common ground is that no one particularly loves either of these sound systems . Imagine of Porsche actually offered a great choice .
Most owners pound the pavement requesting specific options yet to some degree all of us have settled on mediocrity . I for one wish Porsche had a better choice .

I would not pay for Bose in a used car. Thats just me.
I like the factory audio system in the 997.2 just great.
Every audio system sounds different. I suspect some people want to get their newest system to sound just like their prior systems that they liked. Whether that sound is some measure of goodness or correctness is not the issue.

Not true. I would agree that every Bose product is overpriced for what it is, due to the Bose name being on it.
However, the Noise Canceling headphones such as the Quiet Comfort 2's (now the 115's?) work pretty well on a long flight. I like them. I'd love to get the same technology without the Bose name on it for $100 less.

I do not have Bose and ordered my car with out Bose. I had Bose inmy 06 and 07 they just came that way and really hated the sound of Bose. The bas was not tight, punchy or low. The stock stereo is no prize winner in sound but it sounds as good, a little more natural than Bose. So for the money saved in a worthless Boses system I did other performance type of things on my car.
Until Porsche comes out with a nice sound system I will never ever get a Carrera with Bose.

I have Bose noise canceling headphones and a Bose sound dock for my iPhone and I'm very happy with both. Yes, they are a marketing machine but their products are good. Just like anything else, there are better products out there, but Bose makes a solid product in my opinion.

Bose makes good sounding stuff...
If you've never heard anything else. Over amplified pseudo-sound that poorly represents the actual recording, but is engineered to sound good. Much in the way that much of pop "music" is remixed to sound tolerable at 128kbps, Bose used audio tricks to fool the ear.
That being said, if it sounds good to you, then it's good. The enjoyment of your audio is terribly subjective so go with what you like.
No highs? No lows? Must be Bose.

The Bose system in the 911 is absolutely abysmal. It might be worst "high end" sound factory option of any major car maker. It sounds worse than the base stereo in most cars. I mean you can literally go get
I have mine tuned to Bass : -6 Treble : -4 and it gets close to a decent balance, but it's flat, there's no separation or dynamics.
If you really care about sound quality you'll want to get an aftermarket stereo.
But to be honest with the amount of road noise and engine sound and vibration and rattling, it's not really a car for audiophiles anyway.
