Last winter (Feb 2009) when looking for a '07 C2S, I could NOT find the 2 colors I really wanted- Atlas and Slate- in a low mile, one owner, well-equipped, CPO-ed example; they were mostly Silver or Black. Although I ultimately paid high 50's for my silver one, I would have gladly forked over another 5K for a more unique combination - like Atlas/Nat Grey or Slate/Nat Brown, and ultimately, "settling" for the silver in part led my trading it in last month.

So if you think this car is a keeper, the extra $3-5K is definitely worth it in the long term if you're in love with the color combo. However, if you might trade it in 9 months from now, it's probably not something you'll recoup in that short a time-
i m mulling over what u said here... because the dealership is not budging at this point..

i am considering

1- to stay firm on my price and move on.. and see what happens (taking a chance that the car NOT will not sell right away)

2- just pay the few grand difference and enjoy the car now..

i havent seen the DME myself, but the fleet manager tells me there are no over-rev 3 or 4

what to do??

When buying my '07 C2S in Feb 2009, I just couldn't wait, got all caught up in the "fever" of getting my first 911, and landed an otherwise pristine CPO'ed Arctic/Blk, which was perfect in all other ways except for color and non-full leather. While silver looks great, it just didn't "pop" for me and I had my heart set on Atlas, GT Silver, or Slate + Full leather (preferably natural gray). Perused national dealer inventories for 3 weeks and just gave up, although have come across several since that time. After the first month, I still enjoyed driving the car but always kept wishing that I had waited a little longer and paid a little more for the right color/leather combo- to the point I inquired about trading in my car for an Atlas one vs possibly repainting it and installing full leather interior trim.

In retrospect, I would definitely wait for the right one, unless you're looking for some paint-to-sample example (like maritime or mexico blue) in which case you might as well just order one or buy some special glasses that makes a silver car look the way you want it. You don't want to plunk down $55-60K and think "man, I wish it was a different color". The extra wait and $3-5K (over years of ownership) is absolutely worth it-
i've just noticed u sold ur cs2 and got another Porsche ! Congrats on getting what u want !

CC: When it comes to buying a car of this price, please get what you want ...all the advice you get here is great but in the end each car, dealer, territory is different. Let not 2 or 3 K make a difference into getting a car that you may not entirely satisfy you. I ONLY got 16.5 K off when everyone here was getting 18 to 20 K off...

https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...54-newbie.html

I wanted all that extra fluff that my car had (Porsche colored crest on the wheel, seats, aluminium colored shifter/handbrake lever and deviated stitching), and adaptive seats. I am so glad I went for it looking back now after several months. There is never going to be any if's and but's for me as far as my car is concerned.

Make sure "YOU" do see the DME. I'm sure the manager is being honest here but always see for yourself (and note the date when the DME was done).

From what I have heard/seen I would be even surprised if the manager really knew what "range 3 or 4" really meant. I love this stuff! Check the date of the scan and see if it is after when the manager talked to you. When I checked out my car, the PPI dealership simpy faxed me the scan!

This must be why they call you "crazycarlitos". Buy through a reputable broker such as CatsExotics. It will be worth the little bit of extra $ you will pay.

You can check for leaks, but there's no way to tell if there will be an issue in advance. Similar to a clutch, it is impossible to check for "wear". Most of the RMS leaks occur in cars that are not driven regularly or that much.

That's funny about the manager. I love it... Now how did I know that...

CC- hard to tell if the pricing advice you've received so far (ie low 60's) applies to the "average" silver/blk '07 C2S Cab w/CPO + your options + clean DME or if it applies to your unique, more desirable color combo. If so, I think it's reasonable to say that if the average silver/non full leather combo = 61-62K, then yours is worth perhaps 65K (at least to me); by the same token, I wouldn't pay 3K less (or any amount, really) for a Yellow one just because it was cheaper.

I completely agree with W00TPorsche- get what you want, unless you're really up against a hard price cap. Unless this is a short term purchase, don't get too caught up in the "did I get the best deal possible" esp. for a car like this. Get the car you want- I don't think many of us look back and say, "Man, I regret shelling out the extra $5K for my favorite color, full leather, PSE, Nav, adaptive, fave wheels, whatever"- in fact, I think many more would say that they regret NOT spending a little more to get those little details that makes their car "perfect"!

So going back to your original post- if the pricing advice that Larry and Co. (61-62K) is for the more common color combos without full leather, then I would definitely pay 64-65K for the perfect, CPO'ed, low mileage, clean DME, one owner in slate/nat brown. However, if they're saying that a sil/blk one is 57-58K and yours is 61-62K, then it's much harder to say that throwing down ANOTHER 3-4K on top of that is worth it-

997 C2S C4S pricing

I am jumping into the fray and looking for an 06 or 07 C2S or C4S. I can't even figure out how to do some comparable (and reasonable) price shopping? How do you guys arrive at your estimates?

1) I look at the prices (auto trader. cars.com , etc) .
2) I look at Kbb
3) I talk to other forum members and read posts.
4) I bounce the ideas friends --some who own Porsvhe --othes who want to buy the car.
5) I have bought 9 Porsches --I review my previous depreciation rate .. as well as things which were told to me when I went to trade in or sell my car.
6) I talk to guys in sales and service .
7) I compare what others have said based in their region.

I do a little guessing.
How's that ?
