Loi at Euromotorspeed is one of those people and deserves to get recognized for this.

Please, if you have the need for one of the products he sells, dont hesitate to purchase from him.

Oh yeah, the people at Suncoast have also been pretty terrific in giving great customer service as well.

Maybe we need to start a thread on good and bad vendors.

Just sayin'

Did any of you guys that upgraded to aftermarket nav systems loose your steering wheel controls?

I'm being told from my tech that I will loose all steering wheel controls except my volume in my 2004 CT.

If you get a good can-bus adapter you'll be able to use them

What other controls are you talking about?

I cannot imagine with the stock steering wheel controls that you will be able to control radio stations or cd tracks with an aftermarket head unit. But, seriously, the car is really small and it doesn't take much to move your hand a few inches (maybe a foot) to the head unit...

I agree. I find the steering wheel controls a little ridiculous in these cars. Two of them are for the phone that most cars don't have. And the radio is inches from the steering wheel.

But for those cars that do have them they are invaluable.
Those controls are very convinient to use and I like `em a lot.

The "lever" or the MF Wheel? I use the MF wheel all the time. The lever mostly for Oil, TPMS, and to end a call - and to check the NAV route and the MPG and.... Yep, if it is there, I'll find a way to use it. I'm a "build it and they will come" sort of guy I guess.

We were speaking about 2 phone control buttons on a MF wheel. I use it with combination of 'preferred numbers' all the time. very nice feature.

I've gotta stop reading this thread - I'm an audio NUT and this is making me jealous! Amazing to think the Bose and Nav on my car were like, what $4k?? Then I spent another $500 on the Dension too. At least people will buy the Dension used. How about drop in replacement speakers for the Bose? Anybody done that?

Steve - great thread, thx for all the info. I now plan to do this to my 2008 997tt as well. I am near culver city so plan to use haas and will take your advice and make sure to nail pricing up front to get the $2k pricing. Did you look at speakers at all, a direct replacement/upgrade that is same size/fit as stock? Thanks. Ed.

No, I didn't look into replacing anything else but the head unit as I feel the car is so small and so noisy, there truly is no point in spending more $$$ as it will surely be diminishing returns.

If you plan on sitting in your garage with the motor off, by all means, spend away as you will get vast improvements.

If you plan on actually driving your car, the motor noise and the wheel-road noise will drown out any improvements you make to the sound system.

Good luck and let me know if you have any questions regarding the actual install...

Buy the bezel and Bose wiring harness from Loi at Euromotorspeed as it will save you a ton of money by not having them fabricate one and have to do more rewiring than necessary.

Steve,

Which speakers did they wire to the z110bt excluding the sub? Also, did they wire these speakers in serial - as the Bose speakers are 2 ohm and the z110bt amp is 4 ohm? Did the sub amp plug directly into the z110bt or did they special cabling?

BODY,.aolmailheader {font-size:10pt; color:black; font-family:Arial;} a.aolmailheader:link {color:blue; text-decoration:underline; font-weight:normal;} a.aolmailheader:visited {color:magenta; text-decoration:underline; font-weight:normal;} a.aolmailheader:active {color:blue; text-decoration:underline; font-weight:normal;} a.aolmailheader:hover {color:blue; text-decoration:underline; font-weight:normal;} The ohms worked, that's all I know. They didn't need resistors or anything and it sounds fine...They metered them and felt good about wiring them up. I believe all the speakers are connected..Maybe the center one isnt...Cant tell and dont really care. It sounds pretty good for it being a loud *** car.

As for what they did with the subwoofer, they ran RCA's out of the head unit and plugged them directly into the Bose sub amp...So, I have control over the bass separately.

They used EuroMotorSpeed's wiring block. They just unplugged the Bose amp wiring block and plugged this one in...then soldered the speaker wires to it.

Haas Entertainment in Culver City.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

Steve
