Bilsteins are a high end reliable product. After seeing that last thread with both shocks suffering an identical failure the safe money would be on an an install problem and not a product problem. Bilstein wouldn't have declined the claim without good reason. One shock breaking...maybe...but two, and, on the same car...cmon. Something went wrong somewhere.
Have you ever heard the saying; a bad mechanic always blames his tools...(and parts) . Fit em up and give it plenty!

For the record, Bilstein not only is one of the most highly regarded aftermarket suspension manufacturers in the world, they are also the OE supplier of the shocks on PASM Porsches.
You don't see stock shocks snapping.
The aftermarket shock materials are manufactured and tested to the same standards as the factory parts.
Hysteria seems to be taking over on this issue. There is two reported cases of failed shocks like this, and they are both on the SAME CAR installed by the SAME PERSON.
There is a question if the necessary washer was installed on the first shock and there is a question whether that washer on the other shock was installed right side up or upside down (which makes a huge difference).
In my professional opinion after being in this industry for 19 years, this is not a failure due to manufacturing.

Porsche might hold Bilstein upto stricter restrictions then what Bilstein might hold itself to.

No offense, but I was not making an assumption, I was stating a fact. The aftermarket parts ARE held to the same OE standards. We are direct with Bilstein and have been since 1999.

My Bilsteins are on their way and I can't wait to get them installed next week.
