Day Six..

Day Six..
..and counting.
What a joy !
Its been thrilling six days getting acquainted with my baby..
I've been eagerly taking her out every night.. sometimes through the curves in the hills.. other times, opening her up on a open highway.
When I bring her back into the garage, I can't help myself from wiping her down.. than admiring her beauty from various angles.
I feel very fortunate right now.. not only because I get the pleasure of owning a 911.. but because I am soooo happy with the 2007 2CS Cab I picked up !
I looked at and test drove alot of CPOed 911s at local dealerships.. and i must say, most of them look used.. maybe not abused, but the wear and tear definitely showed.
yes.. i know i was looking at the used cars.. not new.. but i still wanted something that was 'above and beyond'
i saw, perhaps, three used cars that I felt were 'clean' out of 100's
My baby is definitely one of them!
She has relatively low miles (14,850).. was kept meticulously inside and out (every1 thinks its brand new ).. has all the features I wanted (except the heated seats.. but who really needs it in Southern Cal.. ).. has an awesome color combo (GT Silver / Cocoa Top / Cocoa full-leather).. came with a new set of Pirellis all-around (305s in the rear).. no leaks (knock on wood ).. and most importantly, she drives great !
I've had 400hp+ cars previously, so the power of this Cab is adequate.. However, I am impressed with the different ways the power is delivered !
In a Normal mode, she is tame and civilized.. great to drive around leisurely around town..
Push the Sport button.. and instantly u can feel the change of the throttle and the suspension stiffening up..
and she really comes out alive from 4k-7k RPM !
The way she screams delightfully when u keep her in the high revs.. shifting through various gears to keep her there..
sounds like a well-orchestrated symphony to my ears.
I am also impressed with the PASM.. so much so, i am currently hesitant to change out to coilovers..
i enjoy the two distinct personalities.. and having the coilovers will limit her to just the wild-side.. and i may get tired of her.
BTW i am not planning on tracking her.. yet.
She deserves, IMO, more than just shorter springs.. but since I want to maintain the PASM, I may have to do just that for appearance sake.
Q: The owners with shorter springs - do u find that ur ride is compromised vs stock? any problems with the PASM ?
The two sounds coming from the exhaust is also intoxicating..
at low revs, the engine growls.. at high rpm, she shrieks in a wonderful way.
I find she is loud enough when I open her up.. not sure if i want her louder..
but, i would like a deeper and a tad nicer (?) tone at idle or low rpm..
plus, i wouldnt mind shedding some weight from her behind by changing out the stock mufflers.. but currently leaning towards AWE cats (along with perhaps the gundo hack).
i dont want to change the whole exhaust system, yet
just looking to improve the sound and open up her breathing a lil..
will be getting an ECU flash (leaning towards softronic) so the Cat makes more sense at this time..
opinions / comments are welcomed
speaking of breathing, i ordered a BMC filter and waiting for the delivery.
also waiting for Hoen rear license-light assembly.. call me vain but i wanted the rear lights to match the front bi-xenon lights..
also ordered a set of Rennline pedals with extension.. more for cosmetic purpose since i am re-learning how to heel and toe, rather than rolling the left/right ball of foot.
the stock pedals are the only thing that looks out of place when i open the driver-side door.. hopefully, the new pedals will dress it up.
BTW, i ordered a silver set with red extension (to sort of match my interior). I also opted for the pedal without the rubber pegs.
No rubber pegs because 1- it feels slippery to me on a wet day and 2- the rubber pieces sometimes come off and i have to either replace it or have it look funny..
Purchased, Received, and Installed the SmartTOP yesterday.. and since its only been one day, my review will be incomplete .. but if u have a Cabriolet, GET IT !
The install is a breeze, the programming is a cinch, and the product works great !
it adds a bunch of convenience features and one cool factor (opening/closing the top from the outside.. very cool), all in one !
looking into spacers.. but undecided..
looking into SSK, will most likely get that..
have valentine one now, but i ordered the 9500xi, since the V1 makes a lot of noise.. and i should look into the new techs (GPS, etc) before hardwiring the V1.
opinions are, once again, welcomed.. even encouraged
no pics yet.. no time since i'd rather drive it than take pics of it.. and so far, there has not been a background worthy enough for decent pics..
but seriously, i will take some photos at the first chance i get !
thx everyone !

there is much to enjoy about these cars. run it hard, but don't abuse it.
not sure why you'd switch from a V1 to a 9500xi, even with those GPS features. they can engineer all they want, but the V1 has sensors on the front and the back, and you can't engineer around that. every test I've seen on radar detectors has shown the V1 on top. also, what do you mean by noise? I hope you're not mistaking the V1 from alerting you in areas where the other detectors don't notice anything (you can't fault it for working). you can also turn down its sensitivity and customize it extensively.
btw, don't be shy about posting pictures

+1 on SmarTop. One of the best aftermarket items I have on my Cab.

Congrats again. To give my .02
You're running the sport exhaust or standard? If you already have sport exhaust, I'd say just keep it. I had it on my prior '06 C2S Cab and loved the sound. Yes, heavier, but probably not worth the $ changing it out unless you're really serious about a much deeper sound and weight loss.
If you do choose to upgrade your exhaust, you really can't go wrong with most of the vendors. This is a very personal choice. I went with Cargraphic sides and a bypass from Sharkwerks. I'll update my thread with vids and my review maybe mid-next week.
As for springs and spacers...this is a must for me. You do scrape a little where you didn't before, but it's not a big deal.
Just frigging post the pics already

PS. just ordered Klasse all-in-one and Pinnacle wax
standard exhaust..
and i will prob end up with the spacers, too.
that's great to know.. i am def gonna look more into TechArt springs..
just wanna keep my options open.. and i've been hearing alot of good things about the escort as well.
i rarely have CHP coming up behind me when I am going 150mph (open hwy, ofcourse) .. more concerned about the speed traps ahead.
and i was going for the weekly award..
yeah, i guess i had a lot on my mind..

I've got TechArt springs on my car and I don't find the ride compromised at all versus stock. Slightly firmer but honestly I don't notice much of a difference versus stock (which I already felt was good enough for me). No problems with PASM after install as everything continues to work perfectly. Can't speak about the other brands of springs out there (and FWIW, Sharkwerks only installs TechArt springs now as they feel they are the best and that they are different from the other brands including Eibach).

With 305's you shouldn't need spacers...

Great write up. BTW the PASM can be accomodated in the Bilstein coilover setup . Just make sure you get it installed by a pro and the so cal guys can probably make suggestions but with only 6 days into the car you may want to leave it stock and enjoy it more .
With exhausts .. you may want to consider the noise level being that the car is a Cab . There are many great exhausts and test out a few notes before finding the one.
Drive safely and congrats again.

from doing a light research, it appears these 997s get the most bang for ur bucks from hi-flow cats and ECU flash.
i am not ready to do FI on this car as of now..
i thought the 295 / 305 size was dependent on the tiremakers.. and not a huge difference between the two sizes.
hmmm, would spacers be a waste of money in my case?
opinions?
