Why is everyone such a scare-d-cat about doing anything to their P-Car (other than Porsche approved stuff).

Geez, it will not lower the value. If anything a very high end Nav system (with Bluetooth, ipod, XM, etc...) that is far superior to what comes with the car will do nothing but enhance the value. And, if done correctly, you can just re-install the PCM back when and if you get rid of the car.

The PCM 2.1 is JUNK! Pure and simple. It has a horrible interface, sounds horrible and is light years behind the times.

Like I did, for around $2,000.00, I replaced the 2.1 with a top of the line Pioneer unit. No big rewiring of the Bose system needed. No drama, just a pure and simple amp wire bypass.

And, for the look, Loi of EuroMotorSpeed hooked me up big time. His bezel is spot on to the factory look and fit and finish. If you werent a P car aficionado and sat in my car, you would never know that the head unit is aftermarket. That's how well it integrates.

So many urban myths. They are all wrong! Take the plunge, do it right. Go with a nice aftermarket Kenwood or Pioneer unit.

I think this is kind of funny as well, people are changing wheels, exhausts, intakes, suspensions etc in a heartbeat, but when talking about replacing the PCM unit some people sound like it's the most important part of the car. Can't say I really get it
