997.2 non S versus 997.2 S model

Looking at purchasing my first P car and wanted to get opinions on which model would be better performance wise. 2009-current (non S) model vs. a 997.1 S model?

This is always a humourous question. If you have the $10k to spend, get the S.

S will give you an extra 40 horses stock and .4 seconds faster on the 0-60

Depends on your budget. A cream puff '06 2S will be around $55k-$60k, while an '09 2S will be $75k+. So about a $20k difference for additional warranty, updated PCM, more HP, DFI engine, and more attractive front bumper (subjective).

you said cream puff...LOL

i think what he is looking for is 997.2 non S to 997.1 S.

997.1S - 360 hp
997.2 - 345 hp

everything i have read says that if you have the money to spend get the S. if you dont its not life changing so dont stretch for it. since you are looking at an older S VS. a newer non-S i would say go with the older as long as you get it CPO with lower miles. it is a bit more of a car than the non-S even when compaired to the newer 997.2

I appreciate the input from all! And the direction I was going with this thread was more to the tune of Gloves's response.

that all comes down to how much he is looking to spend. an 09 non-S will be 10k shy or more of what and S will be. if he is right at his max spending that last 10k could make the car unavailable. thus an 07/08 S might be just perfect!

If I had 2 to choose from. Similar miles, price, options, ect... One was a 2009 non s and the other a 2007/8 S. what are your opinions. Max budget is $75K

The options list is what drives the price. Miles are huge as well on the cost factor. I would choose the S over a year or so newer non-S as long as I was ok with the slight higher miles.

I can't say he doesn't have a good point though. But even then, what does one do when a GT2 rolls by?

I can't help but wonder if the used C2S on the market, 997.1 or 2, won't be subject to more abuse than the regular C2. The sales reports show more C2S, so the C2 is the rarer car. 10 years out, I bet that a clean C2 will be easier to find than an unmolested C2S.

Not that this helps OP in any way, I just like to speculate. Buy the most car your money can get you. If you grow tired of cars, having that extra power and kit from the get-go will never leave you wondering if you should have stretched for the C2S.
