Sound System for 997.2

Is the standard Audio System in the 997.2 a Bose System? I check the Porsche Configurator and there is no option for Bose. Or did I just overlooked it. And I've seen cars at the dealer that have the Bose Speakers on the car but not on the option list of that particular car. Thanks in advance.

Maybe different for Canada? The USA Config has it on page 4. Options under the category for Audio and Communications ( Click on it on the right side), listed as Bose High End Sound Package $1440.

If the cars come with it standard in CA, then good for ya'll - they should.

Steve, thanks for your reply. I see what you mean. I went to the US Configurator and it is there as an option. But if you go to the Canadian Porsche Website and under Audio and Communications, it's not available. I don't think Bose would be standard in Canada. It would be more likely standard in the US first before Canada. We are always being gouged here compared to you guys. Would it be possible for an option to be listed by mistake by Porsche? Did not think it would be possible.

You may be gouged but seems like when I was a BMW buyer, Canada always got better equipped cars as standard and sometimes had cool options USA never got or got much later (like the Cup Aerokit - can USA get that?). Never understood why unless it had to do with some sort of regulations. Or maybe the "plain" audio system, in this case, is made for USA only - wrong tuner frequencies or whatever.

If you look inside a car and it says BOSE on the grills, the car has BOSE.

Look here under Key Features: http://www.porsche.com/canada/en/mod...etail/comfort/

And go to the CA Configurator for a 911 and click on Standard Features:

"BOSE Surround Sound System with 13 loudspeakers"

I'm tellin' ya - it figures - we get rinky-dink base options for USA cars, from Germany at least. I'm surprised you don't also automatically get AutoDim mirror, but nope - gotta order those.

Still a pretty weak audio system compared to state of the art - no EQ is a killer and the AudioPilot gadget seems to do nothing in terms of managing volume versus road noise/speed. Get the MF wheel so you can control volume easily the old fashioned way. I reckon that's why some call it BLOSE.

I find the sound is OK at low speed (city crusing) or stopped and for some albums is stellar, especially with DVDA - but a bad mix will really show up as bad and without any EQ, you are stuck with it. And at speed, the car sound will overwhelm the bass and low-mids. I don't think these cars were made with HIFI audio enjoyment in mind, so you have to have reasonable expectations.

Steve, thank for clarifying these things for me. I appreciate it. I did find the Bose in the standard features of the configurator. I had to pay for the Bose on my 05 car. That's why I thought it would be the same.
And thank for all the suggestions you made. I will look into that. i am looking to trade up to an 09C2SCab. Still contemplating whether it's worth the $$$.
