Sport Shift

Like a sporty feel. Have sport options exhaust, seats, PASM sport suspension on my new 2010 C2S. Adding 5MM OEM spacers. Should I get them to work a deal on the sport shift? $505 plus labor.

Is it worth it for street driving? Do you really notice?

Mission-critical mod I believe.

BTW, see what you can do with your dealer -- the $505 is steep (full retail I believe). There's a fair amount (but not tons) of margin built into these OEM parts. Especially if you plan to do all/most of your service through that same dealer, ask them for a 10-20% discount on parts.

more concerned about the labor. the dealer is in California, where I'm buying the car. Their service quoted me $505 for the shifter and $400 labor.......same dealer also quoted me 1,500 for a clearbra. crazy

I'm thinking of waiting and building a relationship with a local dealer and getting it done for less than $900 which seems really steep.

agree that $400 labor seems crazy?

This was last August. I had the dealer install it, got the kit from Suncoast which had it on special for $299 at the time shipped directly to the dealer and the dealer charged me for 2 hours of labor to install.

Not sure if it mattered but I wanted it as part of the initial sale so they couldn't make any warranty issues, just me being paranoid I guess.

The OEM short shifter shoud be $350ish. Labor should be at most $200. $450 would be on the high end...$400 would be a reasonable amount for parts + labor.

Interesting. Received a quote from local dealer at $775 parts & labor. While I don't have a price for the part (shame on me), I suspect it is close to the $505 quoted by OP.

Porsche does have a coupon out there for 20% of parts, but expires end of day today March 31. I found it on Porsche site for local dealer.

Now, I'm really scratching my head here.....pull the trigger.....or not pull the trigger.....ahhhh, such decisions

I was on the fence as well whether it was worth the money for a 30% reduction in throw. I picked up the OEM short shift kit from Suncoast and had Tom at Lucent Motors install it. I'm VERY glad I did, I can't imagine ever going back the other direction! My advice would be to quit debating and go for it, I can almost guarantee you will be thrilled!

You may want to figure selling your old one into the numbers since its a very desirable upgrade for the 996 guys.

I got a quote from my local dealer to get it installed for $240. The part itself at full retail costs $504 so if you factor in the 20% coupon that expires today it brings it down to about $403 + Taxes.
I am getting done next week.

Sport PASM, GT2 seats, etc. here and I never was a believer of the sport shift. Yes, my GT3 had a great shifter (shorter than my 07 C2S). So when I ordered my 09 C2S to replace the GT3 I didn't even think about a SSK. Well, Huntington Porsche ran a special a few months back for $299 for the OEM SSK. Picked it up, spent $100 for an hour of labor for professional installation and for $400 complete I was very satisfied. It really does shift nicely - very much like the GT3 only the return spring isn't so stiff. It feels "just right".

I purchased a B&M ( who makes the Porsche OEM short shifter) from Bumper Plugs. I have not installed it as I am trying to decide what I am going to do with my interior. However, it will be installed within the next month no matter what I decide to do. The instruction to install it yourself are on the B&M Website and here also I think.
