997.2 PDK - PSE Cable Disconnect - Cable is stuck?
So I just had PSE installed in my 997.2 S PDK at the dealer. The shop foreman was who I had been talking with, he knew I wanted it loud so when it was done he was going to show me how to disconnect the cable so it is loud all the time. However when I picked the car up, he was out of the shop that day, I figured no big deal I would just drive the car home and figure it out when I got home (the dealer is an hour away from me).
I looked up pics on the internet to make sure I knew which cable it was, then I tried to disconnect it. However the cable seemed to be attached very very solidly. I was afraid if I pulled too hard I was going to break something else. Is there any trick to disconnecting these? Are they usually easy to pop off?

See post # 27 here for picture - you have to release the wire clip

Push down on the silver spring and then remove the plug. Do the reverse when installng. (Just hold it down, put the plug on and release).
The car (997.2) has two of them. One for the exhaust system which is up high/right on the engine............. the other is for the intake which you will see if you look directly down to the right of your airbox. That one stays intact.

Wow that WAS easy, now I'm embarrassed I didn't know to push the spring in :-)
It sounds SO MUCH louder and throatier. Frankly if there wasn't this unplug hack I woulda been pissed I dropped 4500 on the PSE+dealer install... but I am real happy with the sound now.
OK last question... would it be prudent to take electrical tape to cover the exposed electrical plug and/or tape the tube to something else in the engine bay? Or does it not matter?

For short term use I wouldn't worry about taping the ends - it just makes it harder to reconnect if the wife or girl friend doesn't like it loud. For track days, I do use a small wire tie to secure the loose disconnected wire to a nearby hose or cable.
If you decide to tape it, I would recommend against electrical tape - the engine heat will soon turn the adhesive into a gooey mess. Short term tape solution would be blue painter's tape. A more "permanent" solution that is easily and cleanly removable is self-bonding silicone tape - this tape comes in white or black and has no adhesive, it adheres to itself when stretched and wrapped on itself as you apply it. It is silicone so long lasting and clean solution if you just have to tape the ends (I don't bother). This type of tape is widely used, particularly in boating, probably easiest to find at marine stores like here : http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs...4&ci_sku=28534
PS - no need to be embarrased, better to ask then to break it...

No concerns about velcro catching fire? The last thing we need is a 458 saga where a simple piece of tape is what causes a car to go up in flames...
