Question running without cats

looking at options, Got hit in rear @ DE this past weekend ,looks like I need two Cats (2100.00 each from Portsche) I use the cars for DE;s and putting around sometimes on weekends, whats avialable to skip replacing cats and go straight for Muffler to Tips . I DE about 10 times a year and most tracks have noise limits so I've heard the bypass system is too loud . (2006 C2s with X51 package )

You could buy a set of 200 Cel cats from one of the vendors that sponsor this forum, or watch the classifieds for a set of used OEM stuff.

I cannot believe someone would rear end you on the track at a DE, WTF was that person doing so close to your back side anyway. I would imagine the other driver was trying to late brake and you chose to brake sooner.

Dont get them from the dealer. I am sure someone on here can point you in the direction for used or new for much cheaper. I know you have to have cats to be street legal so that is something you have to think about as well.

Perfect opportunity to buy sport cats.

Shouldn't the guy that hit you have to pay for them?

I was actually thinking of going to UPS or FedEx and purchasing some bubble wraps...

If someone hits my car though, I would literally be mad! A gun would be dangerous then...

more realistic approach is to have a dedicated track car I think which you will not be afraid to scrape of anything.

Sorry to hear about this, really sucks.

I remember a number of years ago at the local track, some hot shot kid took his dad's Ferrari 360 out to show off. Coming around the final turn he put it into the wall...

As others have said, perfect opportunity to get a set of AWE or other sport cats. No CEL lights (you will get them if you don't run cats).

As to damage - that's what we all have insurance for. Right now I'm guessing it's 50/50 for policies that excluded DE and those that don't. And if you aren't covered by your standard auto policy, DE insurance.
