My 997 on track

I went to NJMP last weekend and had a great time!

Frankly, my stock 997 C2S runs well on track but I want more.
So I am picking up Bilstein Damptronics on 28th to be ready for next track day!
I can't wait to see the difference.

Track time = major addiction. Before changing shocks, have you considered alignment and tires?

Like the wing, did it help with high speed handling or just look cool?

I will re-align my 997 after I install the Damptronics.
And currently, I am running Hankook tires and satisfy with them so far for both street and track use. However, I might get either PS2 or RE 11 though later for better performance.

I wouldn't spend lots of money on just for look
It should help with high speed handling at some point

Before changing suspension, I would suggest a dedicated set of track wheels and "race" type tires (RA1's, R888's, etc.) along with a performance alignment - 0 front toe, max front camber, etc. These changes should get you several seconds in lap times, as well as saving the street tires for the street.

Just installed the damptronics on my c2s today

i'm running Hankook's V12 too and it's clearly the bottleneck now, very obvious with the (extremely satisfying) Bilstein CO's (you'll love it i'm sure) Okay tires for daily drivin' but certainly not impressive regarding connection feeling with the road. Anyway, try other tires with different air pressure you'll make your own opinion..

The Bilsteins are a great upgrade, however PS2'sare not even on my list of tires that I would consider for the track.

Looks great on the track!

I'd install GT3 lower control arms. Amazing what negative camber does for the car's handling (and the driver's confidence) at the track.

Your car is looking good! Did you get a chance to install the headers?

Thanks for your compliment.
I did not have a chance to install the headers yet.
I will install them soon. Definitely, I need them before I go to track on May 29th.

You probably will get a chance for it, you have lots of time ahead.

Some folks suggest putting fluid (I am not sure what they put on though) on the oem bolts a couple days before the actual removal for easier installation. Where ever you will get them installed, I think you should ask them about it

Did you keep a record of your lap times pre-mods?
I installed Damtronics, GT3 lower control arms and got a corner weight balance with a track / "spirited driving" set up. Good for 4 seconds+ on a 1min 50 circuit, perhaps more as you get used to pushing a higher threshold.
