Where do I get modded exhaust in San Diego?
Can anyone tell me where in San Diego can I find a good place to upgrade my exhaust on 2009 C2S / PDK.
Mainly I want to improve the sound, and maybe gain very minimal power. I am willing to go up to LA if needed, I heard it only take a few hours to do the job. My friend in N.CAl said that he recommends a TUBI exhaust for my car. I am looking to just do the outflow because I am leasing the car and dont want to have any warranty issues.
Look forward to any guidance.
Thanks

Stuttgart performance in costa mesa has been visited by many members here. They put cargraphic cats, mufflers and and SSK in for me. Prices aren't the cheapest around, but the work is solid and the guys that work there are pure enthusiasts and completely trustworthy.

The shop I used is in San Bernardino, ca. Scotty's Muffler. They custom built my exhaust using Spin Tech Mufflers. The system is exactly like any system you can purchase pre assembled, The only difference was the price. I only paid $750 for the complete job. The system can also be built using Magnaflow Cans for the same price. All after market systems are pretty much the same, they just use different cans and cost between $1500-2500 for the same system I had built for $800. ~Michael

I'm not familiar with independent shops in San Diego specifically but there are a lot of very good choices in Orange County. For example:
Hergesheimer Motorsports in Lake Forest
http://www.hergesheimer.com/
GMG in Santa Ana
http://www.gmgracing.com/porsche.shtml
or
RSS/Stuttgart in Costa Mesa

Thanks Jeff,I just spoke to James, he is very willing to help me out with a deal. I am not sure whether I should go with a car graphic or tubi exhaust. He says that tubi is more high pitched and car graphic is louder and throatier sounding. I live in the Del Mar area, if you are near by and have time this weekend I would love to come hear your car with the tubi. And get your input on what you think is better. Thanks againTarek

I personally really like the way the factory PSE sounds and think the more tame Cargraphic option is close. The AWE exhaust also sounds great but is pretty tame. The Tubi, for my ears, sounds great but doesn't sound the way a Porsche should and I heard two examples in person and both had a little resonance to them.
I suggest you try and hit up Cars and Coffee in Irvine on Sat. morning. There is almost always a large assortment of modified 997s in attendance and you can hear a lot of choices in one place. Alternatively, there must be a similar gathering in the San Diego area.

I totally agree that the cans make the difference. And We can all agree that pipe is pipe. The better "Stainless Steal". But when it comes to cans, the one I chose is built like no other muffler, and in by no means cheap, Nor is Magnaflow, there cans are well crafted. In my experience, every after market exhaust kit uses one of three cans, Walker, Borla Or Carsound Which is Magnaflow. I wanted my car to sound like no other car, and It does. But most importantly, I wanted it Flow, so my engine could breath. The tone was my secondary intrest. The tone is Low, Deep like a V8 At Idle, And has A Deep Tune'd V8 Exotic sound at W O T. My point is this, If you do your research, Or have tuned alot of cars like I have, You can get exactly what your looking for without spending alot of Money.

The benefit is that they then have the ability to not only tailor the sound of their mufflers, but also to insure that they provide maximum performance at the same time.

Having been to ACG, GMG and RSS my suggestion would be to check out all three shops. There is a world of difference between ACG and GMG/RSS. At ACG you are going to get a 20 year old kid wrenching on your $90K car right after he gets done with that 99' WRX. At GMG you are going to get someone who has to finish dialing in three Cup cars before he gets to install your exhaust.
For my money I will spend the extra dollars for a specialist. I did not have a bad experience at ACG, but I would not be looking for them to do more than a spring install.
