PDK has a lil sprint with 996 TT

I friend of mine has a 996 TT modded to 500hp. He came up to the high desert to visit. He drove my C2S PDK I was in the passenger seat. Our buddy who owns The Porsche Marketing letter former VARA racer is driving the 996TT.
We get on a closed circuit in Malaysia out here by Death Valley. We lower the windows and line em up. My TT owner buddy driving my car says we go on three to his car in the next lane over. The TT has one person, my car has me (200) and the TT owner (240lbs?) He says 1, 2, 3 GO. The PDK spits out in front of the TT by a car length. It stays that way till about 90 and the TT picks up a half car length. But then we run out of room at 120, with the PDK ahead by .5 car lengths. This was a rolling start from 5mph. I wonder what would have happened with a dead stop.

I have had one TT (993) and 2 GT3's (996-997) so I know what quick feels like. All three of those 911s went to the track. Before my back surgery I sold the 997 GT3 for a AMG. I went a year without a 911. I had a chance to buy a 997.1 RS but I had to pass. Then I drove the 09 C2S PDK and was blown away.

That was in March 09. I thought about that car for 3 months. Couldnt get it off my mind. So I went back and bought it in July. I thought it was quick
But I was thinking it was faster than the 996 GT3. But now I think its
just FAST!!
I think the first 1/8 of a mile the PDK built up the lead by just shifting faster than the TT.
Needless to say my satisfaction with this car just keeps growing!!

Sounds like you has alot of fun. The PDK just seems to be getting rave reviews from the NA and TT owners. Seems like a great transmission for everyone if acceleration is the main goal.

PT not only acceleration but its going to help you all over the track. Getting into corners in the right gear, and coming OUT of corners in the right gear and the proper speed.

I havent seen any 997 TT reviews but I havent gone over there either.

Old-Guy, I thought you sold that C63 a while ago? Glad you're happy with the PDK.

When you run at the track and when you ran against the 996TT did you leave it in automatic mode or did you take control of the shifting.

Taylor sold the AMG in may 09.

Mlindgren it was in sport plus and he just let it go. The PDK shifted.
That seems to be the way to go.

I wonder what a 997TT PDK does?!! thats got to be a monster!!

Great video. Gives you an idea of what the PDK can do.
Where is that road? I feel Like I have driven it before (Gran Turismo?)
