Decision Time - Help Needed!

Here's one for all the Porsche experts out there...

I'm looking for my first 997 and want to go with a 997.2.

Right now I have two choices, both with the right color combo...

#1: CPO 2009 C2S, 13,000 miles, 6-speed, Sports Chrono, 19" wheels, no power seats - dealer is 75 miles away

#2: New, 2010 C2, 6-speed, 18" wheels, dynamic cornering lights, power seats - dealer is 5 miles away

Both cars have Nav, Bose, heated seats, Bluetooth, iPod and mats.

Both cars are being offered for $83K from two different Porsche dealers.

Are these good prices? Can I get any better deals?

I'm sorta leaning towards #1, but really would like to hear your opinions.

Thanks!

Firstly, sports chrono adds so much more versatility for the PDK in driving and enjoyment.
The different driving modes are like having multiple cars in one.

For example, my wife will only let me drive in normal mode when shes in the passenger. When shes not in it, i drive it in sports or sports plus mostly.

Secondly, C2S ..added hp

if you test drive similar demos at the dealers and use the Sports Chrono...youll have your answer

Thanks for the responses, I'm sorta leaning to #1 also although neither car has PDK so sports chrono may be less of an issue...

How decent are the prices on these two?

#1 without a doubt. Good option list and it's an S to boot. Dealer distance should not be a deal breaker; my dealership is about the same distance away even though another dealer is slightly closer. You might be able to get a little knocked off the S just because you've made the effort to bypass a nearby dealership that has a newer model. They should make it worth your while to deal on the '09, especially if you mention you plan on having your maintenance services done there (even if you never do).

CPO warranty may be a factor - it would be for me. How long do you plan to keep it? If it's something you want to bother with, I'd check the 'in-service' date, or warranty date of the '09. With 13k miles, one might assume 1 year of driving, so the extra two years of CPO would net you one additional year of warranty. In fact, it may be less - again - depending on the dates...

Thanks PT - that's a good point about maintenance...

I'm definitely leaning towards #1 and it sounds like the price ain't too shabby either...

Warranty is definitely a factor for me. I believe #1 does come with CPO.

#1 was originally purchase early April 2009 and had it's 15K service done a few weeks back...

If my calcs are correct that means the factory warranty should be until 4/2013 and I'll get an extra year with CPO.

I imagine I'll be keeping the car for 2-4 years all told...

Plus, buying a car that's already a year old...you don't have to pay that first year's depreciation!

Number 1 --But at 83K -- NEITHER!!!

Lets focus on number 1 -
First get a DME scan to detect engine over rev history .
Then price that car in the low to mid 70's.
There is NO WAY it's worth 83 .
I paid 84 and my 09 was new and has more options and that was one year ago.

If they let you walk .. their loss.

#1 has a six speed, not PDK, so Sport Chrono isn't a factor IMO.

Thanks yrralis1 - that's super valuable info.

I was actually thinking of offering $79K but now I'll go much lower ($73K).

As for the DMW scan - thanks again - I never knew could get that done.

Here is an old thread where DME scan was explained. (page 2 ) https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...-over-rev.html

Given the region 73K would be a good offer and maybe close at 74.5 . Do not go over 75 . Remember --the car is nearly two model years old and has already been titled. Plus 13K miles means the car was driven by someone else and a lot of unknown history happens in 13K miles. The CPO status is a good thing but it's not so great that its worth overpay.

Personally going as high as 73 -83K you are so close to a new car . It's the end of the month . Sales have not been great. The European sales have got to be even worse in the recent economy and in my opinion YOU (the buyer) are in the driver's seat when it comes to writing that check .

Thanks again yrralis1, I really appreciate your advice.

I can go as high as 83K but the problem is availability of the car I'm looking for (Meteor or Artic, Nav, iPod, Bluetooth).

Would love to be able to have PDK and/or an S but I'm also a realist given my budget.
