Picked up a new ride, and now things look different... need advice
I picked up a gorgeous (used) S550 with the diamond white and porcelain white / piano black designo interior. For a decent deal too. So, now I don't need to drive the porsche all the time (C4S with everything... including PDK).
Now, the problem is that I don't need to be stuck in traffic ever with the porsche, just take it to my office everyday about 6 miles each way, maybe the beach on weekends. That makes me regret the PDK. Some of you may have seen my posts, where I am a fan of PDK, but now that I have this ultra luxury ride with the S550, I want the Porsche to be pure grunt.. raw. So, I'm considering selling the C4S and getting a C2S stick. Problem is, that I love the package I have. Sport bucket seats (GT2 seats), I installed carbon fiber all over the interior, 2009 so all the nice electronics (bluetooth nav XM etc), and of course sports chrono.
What do you guys think I would fetch for a 2009 C4S with the sport buckets and everything else imaginable? No Aero kit, but I was thinking of adding it this month. So before I add Aero Kit, I want to make sure that I am keeping this. If the market is too soft, then I have to keep. The MSRP on mine was $117k (not what I paid, got 10% off )
Other option is buy a new one with regular seats, and swap them out myself to keep the sport buckets then sell the 4S? Arghhh... advice please! By the way, about 16k miles on the C4S bought in December of 2008.

Haha, good advice and perspective! I should have considered that myself! Glad I posted. But, any ideas on what I might be looking to get if I sell my C4S?

One day I read complaints about PDK jerkiness, another day, I hear about being a luxury ride lacking grunt... which is it?

You are making a terrible mistake in my opinion. First off the PDK is an amazing piece of equipment and you will never shift astick to the same level of precision. Even worse is that the C4S , sport bucket , pdk is a launch car . Even if yoirs isn't the exact launch spec it's so close that you will get creamed in resale.
You will get bored of the Mercedes within 6 months. Right now it's the honeymoon phase but if you want to cut yoir loss on the C4S and just sit in cash until the next car comes along .. every day that passes and every mile driven is depreciation.
You'll be lucky to get 75K on that c4S. In trade you'll get the 60's.
Keep the car.

Having never driven the Porsche yet, I'll say this:
Yup, you have the Honeymoon phase with your Benz. Great car. Now your PDK equipped 997... great car, even with the PDK. I want to echo a question already asked more or less- have you driven your Porsche aggressively taking full advantage of that transmission?
I have not used it yet, but everything I hear and read tells me that once I try it I probably will never go with a stick in my own Porsche... and I'm kind of a traditionalist. Aside from the admittedly physical and (arguably) visceral act of shifting with a clutch and stick, I can't think of one solitary advantage the manual might offer me over the PDK. Ultra-quick shift times, throttle blipping, even better mileage and two hands on the wheel at all times... what's not to like?
Just a thought.

I think my question was misunderstood by some, so I would like to clarify.... I AM NOT COMPARING THE PORSCHE TO THE MB! I drive to downtown LA from the OC 2-3 times a week for the past couple of months with my new biz, so I got the benz.. too many miles and too uncomfortable in traffic in the p-car (remember, sport buckets!). Therefore, I don't believe this is a honeymoon period or anything.. Hell I drove the Porsche to my office in the OC today! The idea was to use the S550 for long commutes when I must, and the Porsche for my commutes closer to home. And, the S550 fills that need perfectly. Highly recommend the car if you're looking for pure luxury. I am not trying to race around in that 5000lb beast!
As far as PDK, I am not saying that it is a luxury feeling tranny. And, I must admit, although I've done some exciting drives on Angeles Crest Hwy and up to Big Bear in the porsche, and tried launch control many times, I don't by any measure feel that I've given that car a run for anything near all it's got. My desire to go stick instead of PDK is that I feel I am missing that little bit of the excitement in shifting. I've owned this car for over 1.5yrs, and am pretty experienced with shifting with paddles/buttons etc, so I know that's there. Personal preference, now that I have a daily driver I wouldn't mind if my porsche was Stick.
yyralis... I think you're spot on. I think I will get $75k for the car... which to me the car is worth much more. If it was in the range of 85k-90k it would be more realistic.
I guess I keep and go with the factory Aero kit as planned.. unless I find a killer deal situation with a GT3 RS!
Thanks for the kick in the butt guys, it's a great car and I will keep her!

I did not think you wrre comparing them but I do think you examine the whole package of how the two cars compliment each other in terms of meeting yoir driving needs.
You will take a hit on the 997S . Making the move to a Gt3 is tough. I looked into it last year . To get all the right options it's about 55K plus yoir car (in trade) . Had you never bought yoir car and bought the Gt3 it woild have cost almost the same so 55K is a big loss . Plus you added a new car (the MB) .. it gets expensive.
Add to this that the Gt3 wouid be a used car and since it is a track vehicle the car's driving history might be a little harder to inspect. In some cases it's a more seasoned driver but not always .
