New Porsche Extended Warranty

I just received an email offer from my Porsche Dealer (Pfaff in Toronto) indicating that Porsche is now offering their 2 year extended warranty on purchased cars with original ownership. This is a new feature in Canada and I am not sure if it is offered in the States. I have requested a price on my 09 4S Cab. Any guesses as to the cost? I will post the price and conditions when available.

Haven't seen this offer on the west coast yet. It would be a nice option though.

I just checked with Warranty Direct and got this $4000 quote for a 2006 Porsche 911 with 35K miles for a 4 year (up to 60K miles and $100 deductible) warranty.

If that turns out to be accurate, it sounds pretty reasonable.

always scared of warranty companies - could be bankrupt next week or could try to find outs to every claim...if porsche offered their own id buy it depending on cost..you would think car companies would be interested in doing this if they believed in the quality of their cars..they could price them to profit..

There's been a number of articles in the Wall St. Journal and I think Consumer Reports stating that many of these warranty companies are highly shady and make it impossible to collect. Further when the investigative reporters said no or maybe, the warranty companies kept dropping their prices. I recall US Fidelis being cited several times. Google "Warranty Direct rip off" and you will get many hits. If you could get the warranty directly from Porsche I would think that would be more reasonable and safer

I completely agree with you guys on being suspicius of extended warranty programs and I don't have their warranty and am not promoting this company. I hope Porsche offers one for <50% more. But I did check this one on line and BBB gives it an A+ rating (their highest). It does have 28 disputes, however. About half their total complaints were resolved and half were administratively closed. It appear there are only 5 repair and service issues (link here: http://our.bbb.org/NYC/Public/Report...spx?firm=47633). They appear to have been in business since 1990 and with BBB since 1992. There's also some other's who rated it. Here's the link:

Just received the quote for the warranty-3150 plus taxes, 268 inspection fee and offered anytime while under the new car warranty. These prices are in Canadian dollars.
Any thoughts on this?

It isn't much different than cpo. When I was looking at new caymans everybody wanted to push the warranty. It always bothers me when a company strongly suggests that you should spend money to extend a warranty. It's almost like they don't believe in their product. It's unfortunate.

CPO makes a little sense. You don't know how the car was treated before you.

It has NOTHING to do with that at all. Its a HUGE $$$ maker. That's all, strictly dollars and cents for the stealership.

About double what a $500 ded. Easycare was 9 months ago, which I bought from a Porsche dealer. As I've written before, the price quoted is highly negotiable, even when they pull out the book to show you the "rates". Happened to buy mine in Indiana for almost $1000 less than what a couple of Florida dealers quoted.

Best things to check on extended warranties are the fine print AND the financial rating of the insurance company that is funding them.
