Another Exhaust Thread..Fabspeed or Tubi?

Hi all, looking for some advice...

So I want to do an exhaust install and my dealer is telling me that for money reasons go with Fabspeed (X Pipe and Max Flo Mufflers). They do have a Tubi Cat Back hanging on the wall..obviously a little more money.

Money aside...Is one brand better than the other? Which one makes more power, which one sounds better?

Dealer is also saying to go with a GIAC software upgrade. I'm looking for better throttle response and my understanding is that the software package is the way to go?

I have a 2009 997.2 PDK, so I do not want any drone, but looking for the best sound and most HP/TQ possible for the buy.

Opinions?

Hey Drew,
Welcome to 6Speed!
My expertise is more focused on the 997.1, which are the pre-2009 model years.
However, I am confident that a simple search here will show you many answers and opinions. It's often best to search first, and if you still can't find what you are looking for, ask in your own thread as you have here.
Good luck, and enjoy the process!

Thumbs up T u b i !

I have a 997.2 '09 ; 4500 miles in 11 months... Just had the Tubi install at Champion Motorsport in Pompano. All I can say is WOW! The quality of the pipes are like jewelry, shame to be underneath. Better sound on startup and throatier than stock but not annoying. It comes alive above 3500 rpm, sounds like it should have from the factory. I do have the feeling, there are cheaper ways to go $$$-wise, as the Tubi exhaust seems to be made for high end vehicles mainly so there may be a more economical way to go with positive results. All I can say is that I am thrilled, car runs a bit cooler and, besides the sound, feels like more crisp throttle response. Not knowledgeable on ECU flash upgrades, but, even without it, I am thrilled with the difference.........

I had my 13 year old in the car on I-95 the other day, she has not ridden in the car much or knew anything about exhaust change, but when I accelerated upon entering the highway, she screamed "holy sh*t"............................................. definitely impressive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GSXR Drew...I am a local Tampa guy with a 997.2 S and have the Tubi set up on my car. Let me know if you want to hear it in person.

What dealer is telling you to go with GIAC? My dealer (Bert Smith) told me that if I flash my car Porsche (remember the warranty is with Porsche and not the dealer) will void the warranty of my car. Long story but I had a long talk with service manager and Porsche Zone Rep last year at the dealer about this.

Mdrums...is that you?> Ron's neighbor? If so, it's Ron's buddy Drew...yeah, Im looking to get a new exhaust Im thinking I want the Tubi.

My dealer, begins with an "R", is telling me that they can download the GIAC software and not to worry about any warranty issues as if there is any, they will cover it.

What do you think...go for the Tubi over the Fabspeed? I may hold off on the flash for now...

My two cents

I ordered a Tubi, from renn-1, and put it on myself on a 2010 4s. Took me less than 3 hours, I am very happy, below 3k rpm its about stock, over 3k, its a whole different story, sounds great. Not sure on HP improvement, but I think there is, I can tell you the stock set up was heavy, I know this for I carried it up to attic for safe keeping. Tubi! After 4 months of use, I still feel I made the correct decision.

If you can find a used exhaust do it!
There is virtually no difference between a new and used exhaust (unless bad cats). It is a very easy to save loads of money.

I'd go for the tubi.

I don't mean to be disrespectful to anyone at Fabspeeed or anyone who has their products but in my opinion... there's a huge difference in quality and sound between the Fabspeed and Tubi options for the 997.1 and 997.2. Sometimes you do pay more to get more.
