Is it possible to reset the light using a generic ODBII code reader?

You can't reset the airbag light using a generic OBD2 scanner. The airbag codes are stored in the SRS control unit. Generic OBD2 scanners, read and clear codes from the Engine Control Unit (ECU) which has nothing to do with airbag codes.
If you are in the US, the cheapest way is to go to YOUCANIC website and rent their full system scanner. It's cheaper than going to the dealer. They ship it anywhere in the US. Plus you can use the scanner to diagose any other car / issue.

Airbag light
The airbag light came on. Took it to a local shop but he didn't have the SRS / OBD tool to reset it. Will a durametric reset it? Think it might be a seatbelt switch? Don't want to reset it and have the warning go away then not have it deploy if needed. Any ideas before taking it to the stealership?
Thanks
