What "Extras" Can Your Porsche Dealer Throw In?

Trying to negotiate with a dealer, and realize while they may have a backstop on price, they may be able to throw in "extras" to sweeten the deal. Curious to know that these might be. Please include large and small $ amounts. Some thoughts:

- Extended warranty
- Car Cover
- Key chain(s)
- Floor mats??

Thx.

On a new vehicle, don't expect extended warranty, or much else if the thing is on the lot. If you want tequipment to add things to the car as it sits, those are costly. Maybe a PCA membership gets you 10% off on parts, but the dealer might throw in a $100 merchandise credit, then you use it as you wish.

If the car is used, and you are looking for certified warranty from Porsche, it costs the dealer around $1500 to certify it. Don't expect that to be a giveaway.

Key pouches, mats, etc, all run in the $100 range, so you are really talking peanuts on a $100K car (depending on the car, of course). Work the deal on the car, forget the incidentals, if you are serious.

I absolutely realize I'm being a little petty here, so I want to apologize in advance. But my experience to date has made me realize that it is generally a zero-sum game with the dealership of "screw or be screwed," (in the nicest possible way of course). More often than not, I'm on the receiving end of the stick. Nice to see the tables turned for once, and I'm angling to get all I can.

Sneaky,

If you feel you are getting screwed, don't do the deal, you have to live with it and no one is forcing you to buy the car.

Like Eric says, don't expect anything from the dealer, your not buying a Chevy truck, make the best deal you can within your budget and if they don't go for it ,try somewhere else, but don't buy the car if you don't feel good about the deal.

Roy -

I'm being a little tongue-in-cheek here. The dealer is being fair, and while I'd like to believe it has much to do with our polite relationship to date, and my serious intent as a buyer, I can't help but think that the 45 unsold C2S Launch Edition cars lying all over the country has something to do with it as well.

And while I agree that anything other than a good price from your dealer should be considered "upside," there is nothing wrong with working the angles to see if they can use their discretion to help out a bit. Absolutely an issue of "pennies to the dollar," but no harm in trying, as long as you are polite about it.

Let me know how it went today Honestly, I'd go for either the 997 or just do a Turbo. Prices on both are so much better than opting for an S.
