Absolutely agree. We are taking a PCA DE here.

Take either one of your cars there and there will be drivers in lesser models who can kick your butt going around the track. But guess what. Those drivers will be in advanced groups while you will be learning the ropes at the green level at a slow pace with other inexperienced drivers.

Thats the point of a DE. Its not a race. Its about LEARNING what there fabulous cars can do. In a fairly controlled atmosphere.

You have a better chance getting in trouble in one of your friends racecars. IMO they have given you poor advice FOR the level of driver you are.

I really do not liike watching my things get ruined . There are a lot of thinfs which offer short term gain but can also bring long term pain and i woild really suffer is my car's health was compromised in any way .

Tim had mentioned the Rs and the track . It's such an expensive car that even one flick of rubber tire debris hitting the hood would sicken me. Sure it can be fixed but its like avase that falls and breaks .. it can be fixed but there still are al tse cracks in it . It's tainted . And yes every car ages . but there's routine aging , pampered aging and there's accelerated aging .

OK, so we've ruled out you taking your own cars.

Attend a PSDS or purchase a used Boxster or 996 and resell it when you're done with it. What's stopping you? I was skittish about taking my 997 Targa out as well, just like you. So I picked up the Boxster. Good choice for me as I feel absolutely no pressure regarding the aesthetics of the car and can focus on experimenting and learning.

Larry,

You really are thinking too much.

You forgot what is the fundamental reason for buying a Porsche, which is, we love the performance that it offers (the looking good part is just bonus).

I will bet that I love all my cars as much as you do with yours.

But your initial question a few threads ago was about buying a GT3 or RS. These 2 cars really are built for the track. If one don't plan to take them to the track, then these cars are no better, or even worse, than any Carrera, Carrera S, or Turbo for regular daily use.

Yes, I too will be upset if there are scratches or damages to my cars. But I'll be more upset if you tell me to track an old Boxster (no offense to Boxster owners) knowing that I have an RS in my garage.

I work hard making my money, and I provide the best medical care that I am capable of to my patients.

When I play, I want to use the best weapon that Porsche can provide me with, and one that I can comfortably afford. If tracking my RS makes it depreciates more, then I'll work harder at work to make those money back.

OMG! I can't believe this thing is still going...

Larry, you are likely to sell your C2S in a year or so. Whether it will be the next gen 998 (or whatever it will be called), or a GT3/RS.

So for a car that you will be selling why think about it so much? Many people have been tracking their cars and the cars have been healthy. Northvan has been tracking for years in his 997, and no complaints. I have tracked my car around 10-12 times in the last 8-9 months, the car hasn't had a single issue.

Tear and wear is normal, but it will not be in the engine. Rather it will be the brakes and tires. I will be going on a vacation next week, when I come back you can come and see what is going on for yourself. You can decide to attend it yourself of just be a guest.

Larry needs to wait until the 998 drops before he makes any decisions.

This I agree on but that doesn't mean it's a necessity to use it just for the sake of an experience . There's lots of fun things that have consequences and despite all the track enthusiasm there isn't anyone who likes to see his car worn out or sold for less .

It's also not so terrible to take a Porsche on a road trip . One can have comraderie, thrills , fun driving , without ruining his car in a circular effort . https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...oad-trips.html

I am not being critical of the track .I am just not sure how or where it fits into my lifestyle .

I don't feel like any less of a person by being genuine to myself.
