Thought I'd seen everything.....until this AM
Driving to the airport, South San Francisco. Driving at the limit, I get passed by a cop doing about 80mph. 30 sec later I see a 911 coming up faster. I put out my hand and give a slow down signal thinking I could save one of us a $500 ticket. He doesn't slow down at all and blows past even faster. Turns out the 911 (997) is another CHP officer with no lights, but otherwise normal markings. 911's now official State vehicles? Now I know why California is broke. Wish I took a pic.

Those shots are not real CHP cars; those are decals used in PR events, such as concours and such. Today is the Palo Alto Concours; I wonder if that car was heading there - of course at high speed because they can...
If what the OP saw was a real CHP car it's news in CA. There are however seized sports cars (including 911s) in some southern states.

My $ is on the Palo Alto Concours. Carlsen Porsche usually loans them a black car to dress up with CHP decals to act as lead escort for the parade. I didn't go this year but they have had everything from Boxsters to a 911 Turbo in the past.

CHP had better not be buying 911's for patrol cars - not even a single one. That would be a really (really) bad move right now. It's just so sad what this state has become.
