After-Market Turbo Wheels Vs. OEM?
Okay...So I bought my 2006 C2S Coupe a couple of months ago with the Lobster wheels on it. I really wanted Turbo wheels but everything else about the car was exactly what I wanted so I took the plunge. How much difference is there (quality, weight, etc.) in the after-market Turbo replica offerings vs. OEM? Obviously the after-market offerings are less expensive...
Secondly, are there any fitment issues with putting '08-'09 Turbo wheels on an '06 C2S?
Thanks for any feedback!

The OEM Turbo wheels are a light, forged 24 lb BBS wheel . Even though I think they look very Corvette ish they are still a great quality wheel . You will not get this with a replica . In fact --if a wheel center breaks from a cheap replica whatever you have saved to buy the wheel is lost.
It's an expensive car . If you don't want to spend the money keep the lobster wheels .At least they are safe cast wheels .

The OEM Porsche Turbo wheels are forged while the replica wheels are usually gravity cast wheels. For wheels that are made using the gravity cast processes, more material has to be added to increase structural rigidity.
I recommend going with a wheel setup that's at least low-pressure cast to keep the weight of the set down. It's not fun driving around on a heavy set of wheels.
Our Avant Garde Ruger Wheels is great choice. It's a design off of the very limited Porsche Sport Classic 911 that's not sold here in the United states.

Porsche rims are high quality and generally light. I would stay with the OEM period wheels, which define the image of the car for its time period. I like all PAG's rims, including the 997.1's which are easy to clean and are relatively light. I would keep them.

I agree with Adias. I love my lobster forks. Actually everyone has changed them out so much that now my lobsters are unique!

Agreed, the lobsters fit the look of this car and they are the lightest factory wheel.

I had the lobsters and, as much as they are supposed to be an excellent wheel, I never fell in love with their looks. I ended up purchasing a set of used (but as-new) GT3 wheels from a fellow 6Speeder. I couldn't be happier.
Accepting that they weigh more, but they are simply beautiful. I too just don't go for aftermarket wheels.

I think a turbo wheel option was available for the NB

That's not true. I have OEM turbo wheels on my non 4 wheel drive Coupe...These came as a factory option with the car (about $2,500.00 on the MSRP window sticker).
