Questions about my 997 history

My dad just bought a used 2006 Carrera S from the Riverside Manheim Auction. We were wondering about the cars history as it came with no specific paperwork, but when we went to our local Porsche dealer (Pioneer Porsche) they said they could not print out the option list, give us the date of purchase, or any of the service records because it would invade the original owners privacy.

I am just wondering if this is normal or are they playing games? I also tried an online VIN decoder but it did not list any specific options about the car. I can tell it has Basalt Black metallic paint, gray leather, power seats, wood trim package, and a few others.

Thank you

Try the VIN decoder service from Suncoast. They are a sponsor here.

They are not playing games. Although some dealers may give out this info they are within their rights to refuse to do so based on privacy laws.

Thank you, I guess I'll try another dealer. I just want the service records not the previous owner's phone number or address.

That worked very well. Thank you. It just didn't know what options I709, I706, I234 and I434 were.

VIN info

I hope this is not considered a highjack of this thread...

I bought a 2008 997s. My first 2008 Porsche was bought new and PCNA sent me a letter of thanks for my purchase, and a sheet that stated all the options, build date ect. kind of a Birth Certificate.

MY question is: Will PCNA send me the same sheet for my new-to-me 2008 997?

This might be a solution for the original posting also!
