I was just curious- I wouldn't drop 400 on it either... mine still aren't scratched at all which is the only way I would try them

I wouldn't say it's ridiculous, just a bit "vintage" or retro... YMMV.

I agree with others, its a step back in time for what is otherwise a car with modern styling.

I guess on the RS this can be justified because its sole purpose is to perform and every gram counts on the track. Unless you like the look, there is no reason to consider this an upgrade in any way. But I understand you were just asking out of curiosity.

I think it's a great mod, FWIW. My first ride in a 'modern' Porsche was in an RS America which I believe had door pulls like these. Really liked the simplicity, likely reduced weight (trivial as it is) and retro look. OTOH, I'm sure it's a very pricey side-grade.

I have seen it somewhere online very recently... I don't remember whether it was on 6speed or another forum though

I wouldn't do it myself, because the cars interior is all black already and I don't want to loose the silver accent of the door handle.

How much weight do they save? Aren't the door handles plastic anyway? I actually would've liked for Porsche to make the door handles out of a solid chunk of aluminium or cast... give it that solid quality feel. There is so much plastic crap in the 911 I would like to be metallic... enough so that I'm drawing up CAD models on the bits I want and getting them milled from billet aluminium..

I think it's an interesting project, but I don't think the end product matches the rest of the modern 997 interior. Nonetheless, here's a link:

In conjunction with other mods that would give a nod to the RS....RS styling, etc....it would look ok, I think. As it stands, with no other mods to tie into them, I think they look way out of place in a luxurious/stock/street car interior. JMO.
