What to get checked before CPO expires?

Hi Guys,

I have an 05 C2 with 52K miles and the CPO will expire early next year. I want to make sure I get everything taken care of before the CPO expires to reduce my exposure later on. What do you think I should get checked before the CPO expires? And also, what should I expect from the dealer if I go with a list that I want to be checked? Do I have to tell them that I think there is an issue with something for them to take a look?

Thanks!

I'd just tell them sometimes it Idles rough, and you hear a little rattle.
It is ambiguous enough they will have to hook up the computers and really go over it.

Have them check for oil that you saw on the garage floor, to verify you do not have seeping from the RMS.

Check every function of your PCM that you can to make sure it has full functionality. For example, make sure you can tune in discrete AM stations, etc. A lot of 05's have had their PCM replaced (for the better updated one). I believe the part thru Porsche is about $2500, so you would want it done under original factory warranty.

Edit: Oops, just noticed that you have CPO warranty. PCM replacement may not be covered under CPO.

CPO isn't worth squat. I've had many problems and just about nothing is covered. There is always some loophole that allows them to deny coverage.

The new CPO is essentially an extension of the original warranty and is worth every penny if something major breaks.

I strongly disagree.

My 2002 TT has a CPO and the dealer has covered all issues to this point (9 months into the 2 year coverage). Those items include secondary air pump and rear spoiler hydraulics. That amount to over $3K worth of repairs - well worth in my experience.

Not sure if that's really the case here... They replaced the spoiler drive and motor as it was creaking. I think it was about $1,800 and I paid 0. No questions asked...

Things to check:
My spoiler was creaking. They'll install a new motor.
Seat was shifting around. Gears are worn. Replace the seat motor.
Little coolant residue in my garage. Needs a new water pump (!)
Holy cow, I'm questioning reliability here on a car with 27k miles and no track time...

Just tell your dealer that the CPO is about to expire and you would like to have one last detailed inspection of the car, they will know what to do. Dealers usually love it because the more things they find the more they can charge under the CPO warranty.

Last time my dealer couldn't find much wrong on my car, hence they fixed a loosed ground wire to the headlight, an aged tube around the oil filter area, etc. The bill was all under CPO, and it was all good to me

Regards,

Exact same issue with my spoiler motor. No charge to me.

I'm sure this depends massively on your dealer and your relationship with them. You're right there is a lot of leeway in what they can claim is driver abuse. Not all dealers are equal, maybe try taking it somewhere else.
